i installed the full game, and it worked for me fine, although a fraction of a second slower than in window$. but the data editor does not seem to work.

I haven't tried to install it yet.
But I'm a long time CM/FM player (on Windows that is) and recently I've made the switch to Ubuntu 7.10. And I've never used Wine before.
I was wondering if it's possible to add custom pictures/logos/kits?
Because in Windows those custom pics/logos/kits have to be in the My Documents folder..
Bump..
Though I've never tried it I will take an educated guess and say yes it is possible.
1. Wine creates a "dummy" copy of your C drive.
2. In Windows FM saves all files to My Documents including saved games. My version of FM2008 on Linux is automatically saving everything to my Home folder in LInux (i.e. the Linux equivalent).
Either way, it indicates that FM will be able to find your files though you may have to experiment a little as to where you save them.

That's great, thanks for the replies.
I'll give it a shot later this week, you'll probably hear from me again
This game work great.. i got it to work completely, except for fullscreen with wine have to emulate desktop due to 16 and 24 colour problem.. I copied the whole installed directory from windows to linux.. and it JUST work..=D
No it shouldn't be necessary to disable Compiz. I have the "normal" Compiz running and the game runs fine. However it may be useful to switch it off to begin with, while you try and get the game running successfully.
You can read how I successfully got the game working here.

i can't install Football Manager, here's what the terminal says.
kristoffer@kristoffer-desktop:/media/cdrom$ wine setup.exe
errle:CoGetClassObject class {9a5ea990-3034-4d6f-9128-01f3c61022bc} not registered
errle:CoGetClassObject no class object {9a5ea990-3034-4d6f-9128-01f3c61022bc} could be created for context 0x1
fixme:exec:SHELL_execute flags ignored: 0x00000400
Another window shows up
And then nothing else happens.
