I doubt mounting issues are linked to wubi. As for the root, in Ubuntu you have to use "sudo".

    This is my first post!!

I've tryin wubi 7.10 (wubi-cdboot.exe), but when restart I just got a live session... not an installation on a virtual disk.
Wubi never ask me for the drive, the size, user, pass, etc.

    any idea?

    Miguel

PD: do you understand my english? ;o)

Wubi cdboot does what it says on the tin: it lets you boot from CD. It is used to go around bios issues.
Once in the live session you can run the standard installer (which will require changing the partitions).

To install to a file (without changing the partition) you have to use the installer you find on our website. That was supposed to be on the CD but there was no time for that.

I put the wubialphaexe file in c:\ubuntu and works fine!
But, after restart I get an Error 17: File not found...

I think your ordinateur is booting from the CDROM drive and installation never done (you only play a live session).
Look for the boot sequence in Bios utility and change it.

    suerte!!!
