It's not about being able to install the items using another method, It's about the ease in which Automatix does it for you.

Sure, I could go out and get and install all the various packages myself. Takes longer..

Funny. I don't use Automatix, and I still somehow manage to "click, click, click, 'apply' DONE!" Are you using Breezy Badger still, by chance?
