    Re: HOWTO: Graphical IP Blocker

I tried to install this and it froze and wouldn't close so I restarted the computer. Now when i try to install it or install anything else for that matter it won't let me it says only one software management tool is allowed to run at the same time. Nothing else is open but this.

How do I correct this problem?

I would try aptitude or apt-get which are more verbose.
To install the prerequisites manually which are listed on the first page:
    Code:
    aptitude install <prerequisites packages>
    Then a simple
    Code:
    dpkg -i ./iplist-<version>_<arch>.deb
    would install the package.

On Fedora you can use yum, which install the prerequisites automatically:
    Code:
    yum --nogpgcheck install ./iplist*
If an eror occurs, please post the error message.

    Re: HOWTO: Graphical IP Blocker

I keep getting the following error message when starting IPblock
    iptables: Chain already exists
    What gives?

EDIT: I rebooted and enabled and I didn't get the error message but now the whole WAN is down, I can't even "ping google.com"

This might be caused by double-clicking the enable-button. The message shows that IPblock was already running. You can stop it with "sudo ipblock -d", so that the error message disappears.

Did you see blocked IPs in the log window ? Maybe your ISP or DNS-server is in the lists.

Nope, I am not double clicking... When I use "sudo ipblock -d" it tells me that there aren't any instances running (er, something along those lines, I forget the exact message) ...
I also noticed something else odd, when I click the "Enable" button it turns to "Disable" but the text header still reads "ipblock is Disabled" ???

Nope nothing is showing in the GUI, I even disabled HTTP blocking and that didn't fix it

This looks like a bug in the GUI. Can you start it on the command-line ?
    Code:
    sudo ipblock -sl
    iplist

But now how do I know if it's working? and How can I see what gets blocked, etc... ?

The output you've posted shows that it's working (iplist daemon is running, iptables rules are set). The logfile is /tmp/ipblock.log. Entries with "match=" are blocked IPs. You can still use the GUI to configure IPblock. I'll release a bugfixed Version 0.15.2 soon.
