Can anyone point me to great Linux games that DON'T require a 3D graphics card. My laptop wasn't blessed with an Nvidia/ATI/Intel graphics card.

For the record, I'm playing FrozenBubble and Pingus, but since these are just clones of games I've also played in Windows before, I'm kinda bit bored with them already, not to say they're boring. They're actually great games in my opinion. Highly recommended! And it's in the repositories to boot.

Battle for Wesnoth is pretty good. You could also install Zsnes (or snes9x if you like that better) and play snes roms.

Thank you for that awesome list of links!!

Yeah, I could, but those are SNES games, I'm more like thinking, "Hey look at this nice game! Isn't it cool? Oh by the way, I'm using Linux". I'll try Battle for Wesnoth. If there are other recommendations out there, please share with us your experiences. NetPanzer seems nice, too. Kinda confusing at first, and there's no tutorial or single player mode to practice in, no in-game help (then again, not much is needed anyway).

Games that say "Hey look at this nice game! Isn't it cool? Oh by the way, I'm using Linux." that don't utilise any 3D can be quite hard to find. There are a few really good and fun games, but they don't exactly say "wish this was available for windows, huh?".

    Two free first person shooters:
    AssaultCube
    Sauerbraten

They can both be played with a dial-up modem.
