    Thanks for the info!

About the alien -t command, shouldn't that be alien -d to make easy to install/uninstall .deb files? Worked for me.

    Thanks

The .deb files and instructions are here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...620/comments/5

    Hello
I am new to Linux and Ubuntu. I was following the document however I get an error when I tried to restart the cupsys service.
I then proceeded to check the directory the file mentioned below does not exist

    :/usr/share/cups/model$ /etc/rc2.d/S19cupsys restart
: /etc/rc2.d/S19cupsys: No such file or directory
    :/usr/share/cups/model$ cd /
    :/$ cd etc

    Thanks for your help

all you have to do is find the correct name of the file (it is not the same on all systems).
first, navigate to /etc/rc2.d/ (you can use nautilus or terminal)
    cd /etc/rc2.d
then, determine a list of files and pick the one you need.
    ls
    for example, mine is S20cupsys
then just modify the command to reflect the correct name.
    following my example: /etc/rc2.d/S20cupsys restart

sorry if this is unclear at all; just let me know if it is.

    Re: HOWTO: Lexmark Printers

OK, I know I am new to this but I can't figure out how to do all of these things you are talking about doing. I try to add them into the termial and they keep coming up saying that the file isnt found. I could only get the first line entered before the file not found message came up so I stopped.

Can someone post a non-computer geek version on how to do this so I can use my printer or to relieve the rest of the posters from my stupidity just send better instructions to my email?

    Thanks
