I followed the instructions but it hasn't made a difference. The script went through all of the folders and made images in ~./albums which is the folder I specified but they don't show up in thunar or nautilus. Have I missed something?

"Dead men tell no tales" --Ghandi
"Sharing is caring" --Castro
"All your base are belong to us" --Hitler
"Ph33r |\/|y 1337 h4x0r sk1llz!" --Jesus
That dot there is very strange...
The images or icons should be in:
~/.avatar-factory/icons/cd/
or
~/.avatar-factory/icons/vinyl/
Now if you see images in:
~/.albums
If that is the folder you specified then those are not images. Those are the albums.
The script does not change folder icons, it creates a flat view of all your albums in a different location.
Ah yes, my mistake, I meant:
~/.albums
I also misunderstood the nature of the script.
Thanks for your help.
"Dead men tell no tales" --Ghandi
"Sharing is caring" --Castro
"All your base are belong to us" --Hitler
"Ph33r |\/|y 1337 h4x0r sk1llz!" --Jesus
Please disregard this post.
EDIT: I accidentally double posted.

I am dying for updates on this, im wondering how can I make my albums sort by artist name?
and again a great script!
Thanks. Is nice to know that someone is waiting for a new version.
I think that I will have a new version ready for the next week.
Regarding your question, the avatars don't hold any information about the artist.
What you can do is sort them by folder structure and if your folder structure have artist info then it should be very similar to sort by artist.
Folder structure example:
~/music/artist1/album1
~/music/artist1/album2
~/music/artist1/album3
~/music/artist2/album1
etc...
or:
~/music/artist1 - album1
~/music/artist1 - album2
~/music/artist1 - album3
~/music/artist2 - album1
To sort by folder structure use the default option for name (do not set any) or use option 1 (--name 1) and sort by name in nautilus, thunar or any other.
It should work, but I dont want to show foldernames under the icons, and nautilus doesnt sort them properly, I will try one of your commands.
aha it seems like the script sorts them by creation dates of the folders now i have like
/Mpr/Artist/Album
And the first album i put in there is first in my "album-cover" folder

Here it is the new version:
12.08.07------0.1.9
+index number will reflect better the real number when adding new avatars.
+existing icons won't be overwritten (If you delete your avatars it will be much faster to create them again)
+"-f" option to force icon overwrite.
+dvd theme
+film grabber
The film grabber isn't finish and it will only work for imdb firefox bookmarks.
The first post has been updated with a new screenshot and usage instructions for the film grabber. In the future it will be able to make avatars for launching video files.
Another version is coming soon...
If you like the film grabber I had made another script for movies:

I have a question...I have all the album covers downloaded...amarok did it for me, but each album cover is not in each folder! Is there any way to get amarok to redownload covers and put them in each separate folder? or maybe banshee?
I don't know but my guess is that they can't do that.
You can try other programs for that:
Album Cover Art Downloader
It is for windows but it works with wine. In Configuration window > Targets > mp3 files Uncheck enable if you don't want that to happen.
Another:
CoverDownloader
