So there's a christian version of Ubuntu. And a muslim edition. So, nu? Why no jewish derivative?

I'm not sure how to start an entire Ubuntu edition (I'm an Ubuntu newbie), but if you're interested, please feel free to respond. I can use all the help I can get.

    Thanks,
    Eric

    Re: Jubuntu

I'm thinking of developing an application that would occasionally provide verbal reminders. Something like,

"So you use open-source software. Wonderful. But when was the last time you called your mother? She worries."

Does anyone have an older female relative with a think New York accent who can do voice-overs?

    Thanks,
    Eric

Uh, just a thought but maybe ya ought to slow down there just a bit. Like ya said your brand new... maybe ya ought to take time and get familiar with Ubuntu. If you are serious about either ya should get a dev team together (can be hard, but post somewhere else in the forums to get serious attention), unless ya plan on doing it all yourself, get some forums (hosted somewhere else, I doubt yad get a sub section), work out what exactly "Jubuntu" will do thats so different and go from there....

Posting in the beginner section isn't going to attract attention, its really just for people having "problems" with Ubuntu at the beginning (thus the succinct title).

    Re: Jubuntu

If you are serious about this, you might want to look into a program called reconstructor (http://reconstructor.aperantis.com/). It will allow you to create a live cd for your jubuntu. The live cd will also serve as the installation disk. Once you figure out what you want to be present in jubuntu, set up a custom repository that contains all the programs. This will allow people to get the benefits of jubuntu without having to reinstall their current version. It will also allow people who use jubuntu to easily add new programs. From there, it't just a matter of getting custom artwork and getting jubuntu well known.
Be sure to check out the Community Ubuntu Documentation and the Ubuntu Team Wiki.

PLEASE dont start a offshoot if you dont know what your getting into. Seriously. There's so much to it. License/support issues are the big 2.

I would like to see all the religious off shoots band together in a single site with links to subsites.

Oy vey. Does any Judaism-related software even exist? Or would this just be an art package like UbuntuSE?

If you want to help eric02138, please post suggestions (the link to Reconstructor is a good one).

If you just want to be a naysayer or question the value of religious versions of Ubuntu, please post in the following thread instead:
