The project is alive and well. But it's fairly new and we need some more feedback. So feel free to try and report back!

It would be nice to have "disk resizing" and "install as a real partition" options in wubi itself (on the windows end) since you wouldn't have to download the live CD (since wubi uses the alternate version)

Yep but if you want to partition your hard drive you can just download Gparted Live CD, thats what i did cuz the Ubuntu Live CD takes ages to load.

Re: Howto: Using LVPM to transfer Wubi virtual disks into a real partition

Alredy installed it, Ubuntu runs like a charm but theres a BIG problem, my Windows XP Pro is not on the Grub menu list, i really need to fix this urgently cuz most of my programs are there, anyway to fix this?

    Edit:
Already Fixed, i just needed to modify my menus.lst file from the /boot/grub folder, added Win Xp (hd0,0) on the list in the other OS section, and for a minute I **** my pants lol, but maybe some newer user isn't as lucky as me to figure out the number of the Win XP Partition might get stuck on this part so in future releases this should be automated somehow.

Hmm that's strange, it's supposed to have done that automatically... Seems like my script had some issues on the os detection bit... Would you mind telling me the output of the command "sudo os-prober", and "sudo fdisk -l" (to help pinpoint the problem so that future users don't have this issue)? Also, did you see anything in the /boot/grub/menu.lst file prior to editing it, after the ubuntu entries in the end, or was there nothing at all there?

Re: Howto: Using LVPM to transfer Wubi virtual disks into a real partition

my boot.lst file that I got to work using super grub is blank. My partitions are windows, swap, then linux partition. Any idea on what needs to go there? Also, would it be possible to edit the wingrub to point to the new partition instead of the img files?
