Wubi - Ubuntu Linux Installed Through Windows!
    http://digg.com/linux_unix/Wubi_Ubun...hrough_Windows
    http://duggmirror.com/linux_unix/Wub...rough_Windows/

Throughout the linux community I hear lots of complaints about why people do not support something free and easy to use? Well quite simply people hardly access a bios in a computer let alone can partition something correctly. Searching youtube or google video we can find nice step by step programs, but how do we watch the video while installing, you don’t!

I love the attempts of others to spread the word but it is important to think of the end users needs rather than what your preference, passion or wants are. There in lies a solution for people to remain happy, test a new operating system while keeping their old one intact. Wubi which is a Windows Based Ubuntu Installer is a great solution to those not wanting to setup partitions or deal with learning how to partition a hard drive.

Wubi is a revolution in the computing world for those who want to introduce people to Linux and Ubuntu. Linux heads should be thankful that a program is going to help revolutionize how people compute from this day forward. Much like the Live CD did for ease of use Wubi is adding yet one more tool in the battle between proprietary and open source software.

Wubi very new on the scene is making life easier for the volunteer sales force of Ubuntu, daily we try to convert our friends family and co-workers. Read what Wubi Says!

    Mini-Review: Wubi - Painless, partion-free WindowsXP/Ubuntu dual booting
    http://www.donationcoder.com/Forums/...php?topic=8326

Wubi is an Ubuntu installer that you run from inside Windows. It installs Ubuntu to a virtual disk file without making any changes to your partitions or doing any formats. As such, it should be completely safe to install. Since it is utilizing a virtual disk file on your hard drive, it has the advantage over live cds of retaining changes, installations, etc through rebooting of the system and allowing you to install as much as you want as long as you have the hard drive space to spare. It also boots considerably faster than a live cd, and is almost as fast as a regular installation. Unlike live cds, however, it does take up hard drive space and obviously leaves traces behind.

    Here is a review:

Take Ubuntu for a non-invasive test drive with Wubi
    wubi.png

Windows only: Wubi is a Windows-based Ubuntu Linux installer that lets you run the OS on your Windows XP box--no partitions, bootloaders or Live CDs required.

Wubi appears to be an evolved, community-supported version of the Ubuntu Windows installer prototype we looked at a while back. Just run the executable, reboot, and choose Ubuntu from the boot menu that appears. Like a Live CD, Wubi makes no changes to your system but affords full access to your hardware and comes with a robust suite of Linux apps and utilities (the same stuff that comes with Ubuntu).

Wubi is beta, but it worked fine on my XP system and uninstalled without a hitch. Some users will undoubtedly prefer the Live CD approach to Linux test-driving, but this saves you having to burn a CD and affords a more permanent Linux presence--if that's what you want. Wubi is free; it requires Windows XP. —Rick Broida

    Re: Wubi Reviews

The previous review is quoted (well, rather translated)
in one of the most popular Linux blogs of Brasil:

    Re: Wubi Reviews

And here is another mini review in Portugues:

And another one, in the most popular website for downloading software in Brasil:
(It seems Wubi is getting well known in Brasil)

Maybe you are most interested in reviews of Wubi in English, I don´t now.
But I think any review is important, no matter the language.

So here is a review in Spanish, from Argentina.
    http://www.vivalinux.com.ar/distros/...-desde-xp.html

(The text is more or less the translation of the Wubi web site)

Wubi: Instalador de Ubuntu para Windows XP

    *

    * Download: Wubi Beta.

They mention that it works only with Herd 4, so they most not checked the Wubi site for a while.
I will contact them when the final stable is on.
