I would be interested in research on Free VMWare server and its limitations.

Ditto on vmware server. I'm currently running it on my gentoo machine and it seems to run fine, but just a default install with just 1 virtual machine under it (xp). I'm curious as to what is best to run vmware. Right now my gut feeling is ram... as with just xp running, I tend to swap some even though I have 1g of ram in the server.

As to Wine. ... I broke down and subscribed to Cedega to see about gaming under Ubuntu and thus never having to boot into windows. I'm hopeful that I can successfully play my games and thus reclaim the 160g drive windows is on for other things.

Let me know how CEDAGA works with games. Games is the only thing keeping from wiping windows out of my box.

I am running Cedega 5.2.3 , running ASE through Crossover -- Cedega runs Quake 3 / 4 well.
I don't have any other games to test.
XQF browser can be configured to play games from Cedega , I just like the way ASE handles mods.

Has anyone tried OSX x86 version through QEmu? I cannot seem to get it past the initial boot, kernel panic. The error seems to be that QEmu doesn't do the SSE instruction properly.
All nixes open fine, XP Pro install, opens fine. I had 4 Linux distros , XP Pro install, and OSX running at the same time.

why do you run Quake3 in cedega? The native linux install runs really well.

I have the AC97 sound card, I haven't installed a good card yet -- so either play with sound in XP pro, or Cedega -- or without sound . Bastards sneek up on ya with out sound.

( yeah I have a creative live card sitting on my desk, just been busy remodeling my house so I can move back in. )

I run VMware on my XP partition. The CPU can handle it and it runs decently well, but it sure eats up RAM.

Also running Cedega here. I've got a few games installed as testers, but have not yet been successful with installing my main game, WoW.
