Re: HOWTO: Watch digital TV (Freeview)

ok, I think I figured it out.

    Just so i don't forget:

    I followed this guides:
    http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.ph...V-NOVA-T-Stick
    (here I got the firmware)

    http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.ph...device_drivers
(here I follow the guide for 2.4 kernel to get the source, compile and install)

    http://linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux-d...er/022177.html
(here are the 3 changes in 2 files listed to get the card working)

with "sudo make unload" and "sudo modprobe dvb_usb_dib0700
" and "sudo modprobe dib0070" I got the modules loaded as needed. "dmesg" is showing the card is up and running.

I'm a new Ubunto 7.10 user and to get my Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA USB DVB-T stick to work, I followed tom56's HOWTO - great thanks!
But i can't get my IR remotecontrol to work - any ideas?

    Hi all,

after the upgrade today I lost my ability to use my dvb-t-Stick.

    Has anybody the same problem?

The kernel modules aren't anymore loaded.
    TIA

I have updated the howto and firmware bundle

Feel free to ask for help - make sure to include the output of dmesg from when you plug in your card (see tutorial).

Re: HOWTO: Watch digital TV (Freeview)

hi, i have managed to lay my hands on a seemingly unnamed DVB USB stick, all it says is DVB-T 355U

I followed your guide, without the extra modules and the first time i started kaffeine it said it could not find a DVB stick. So I installed the modules:

    Code:
    bazgrant@bazgrant-desktop:~$ sudo modprobe cx88-dvb
FATAL: Error inserting cx88_dvb (/lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic/kernel/drivers/media/video/cx88/cx88-dvb.ko): No such device
    bazgrant@bazgrant-desktop:~$ sudo modprobe dvb-bt8xx
    bazgrant@bazgrant-desktop:~$
i rebooted the usb stick and restarted kaffeine and manually turned on the DVB client option but still nothing.

Here is the result of dmesg|tail:

    Code:
    bazgrant@bazgrant-desktop:~$ dmesg|tail
    [29507.664362] usb 3-5: USB disconnect, address 108
[29507.774588] usb 3-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 109
    [29507.828782] usb 3-5: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
    [29507.828935] usb 3-5: USB disconnect, address 109
[29507.939162] usb 3-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 110
    [29507.993363] usb 3-5: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
    [29507.993513] usb 3-5: USB disconnect, address 110
[29508.103735] usb 3-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 111
    [29508.157934] usb 3-5: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
    [29508.158082] usb 3-5: USB disconnect, address 111
am i right in thinking that it has disconnected itself then and possibly the usb stick is faulty?

    many thanks in advance

Re: HOWTO: Watch digital TV (Freeview)

that just seems to hang when i put in that command, if kaffeine is running at the same time:

    Code:
    bazgrant@bazgrant-desktop:~$ sudo modprobe em28xx
    [sudo] password for bazgrant:
but if kaffeine isnt running i dont get any response whatsoever:

    Code:
    bazgrant@bazgrant-desktop:~$ sudo modprobe em28xx
    bazgrant@bazgrant-desktop:~$
it also says cannot bind info socket when i enable the dvb client in kaffeine
