How beautiful is life without Beryl !!

Hi There,

First of all, I would like to say, that I've been trying to use Beryl for a loooong time.
And during this trial, I can't tell how many forums, howtos, tips and tricks,
mediums and gurus I went thru.

If you ask me: "But it never works?"
Yes... it works, but mate,
my computer got soooo unstable,
that till today I couldn't remember how good was ubuntu
when I installed it from the first time (1 year ago)...


Let's talk about my experience:


Theorically speaking:

your video response it will be faster and,
you will have a lot of nice effects to play around
while you are working.


Real Life:
-------------------------------------------
Well... in fact the main problem is:
You compromise your entire system integrity with this peace of s***ftware !!
Ubuntu didn't include this package into its new version for a simple reason:
BERYL HAS TOO MANY BUGS !!




I know I know, its a beta version...
But hey! A one year ago it was a beta version as well !!
There are thousands of people trying to use and reporting bugs
every single day in every linux forum distribuition (apart from their own forum)

The only true is: The guys working on Beryl are completely lost.

I really hope that one day, the actual develop team start focus in solving the currently
(many) bugs that beryl has instead of creating new interfaces/icons and options that really doesn't work.

What is there point anyway?

The last one year, they created new stuffs and changing the beauty of their windows manager, included new effects, etc etc etc and yes, its very cool... but... er... IT DOENS'T WORK MATE !

My computer crash all the time, my cpu its burning inside...
Jesus Christ.... somebody has to say it:

PLEASE GUYS, TRY TO FINISH IT ONCE FOR ALL !
Forget about this "new incredible thing" that came out yesterday,
it really doesn't matter you know...

You guys have an amazing software in your hands,
that really could make a great diference for all of us
that choose Linux as their main Operating System...

So Please... Just release the damm final version.

It's true, I am very frustrate with all that thing,
and yes, I know!!!!

the software its free, and I could be a little more grateful
for their amazing job...

Just one more thing...

And it will be a little advice for all those people that are thinking
about install Beryl in your computer:

Mate.... Don't do that.

You can turn off beryl, you know?

Bug #1: Beryl by default takes over too much of the keyboard.
Bug #2: Beryl is difficult to configure.

I've seen work being done on Bug #2, but is anyone working on #1?

as far as i know, nobody is under any illusions about beryl. it clearly states here in the sticky thread that beryl is beta software and the user is warned that they use it at their own risk.

Guess lots of people could have given you that advice if you had asked for it. So yes, life is beautiful even without Beryl, so is Ubuntu.

What are your computer specs, man ?

beryl is buggy and does lock up from time to time, but at the same time it's not so bad that i have it off by default. basically in my mind the pros outweigh the cons. and it should only get better. having said that, if i cant get suspend to play nice with the nvidia driver and beryl on feisty, beryl is going bye bye
