It honestly doesn't matter much anymore.

Years ago when Star Ocean and Far East of Edan Zero (among other games) only ran in zsnes (with fully exported data packs due to chipset decryption being impossible at the time) choice in emulation mattered a whole lot more based on the games you played. Now that the various snes emulators that exist can all emulate almost the exact same hardware, it comes down to personal preference and whatever works best on you. If you're a diehard fan of zsnes, by all means use it. It has some great options and runs well (my personal favorite). If you find you like the interface/features of [insert name of snes emu here] better, then use it instead.

I know there are still some differences, but they don't quite add up to as big of a difference as they once did.

i use zsnes because i quite a few saves in it and it would suck to start over on the 5 or so games i am playing through now. not sure if another emulator will load those saves, its possible but i doubt it.

plus it used to be the only game in town, i guess i am just old school.

In my humble opinion: yes. I use zsnes on both windows and Xubuntu.
