Welcome to our project ideas and discussion thread. This thread is dedicated to discussions involving ideas for new or existing team projects. Have an idea for team? Think you can improve something that we've done? Feel that we are doing something the wrong way? Here is the place to discuss it.
I would like very much for us to hold a launch party for Ubuntu Feisty Fawn. I think that we should create a project called "Plan for Launch Party". The people working on this project would be responsible for arranging the details of the party such as: where it will take place, what time it will take place, what refreshments will be served, who will fund the party, who will be invited. Let me know what you think. Is a project like this worth our time? Is it doable?
I think that we should make a new members form that new members could fill out. This form would have the following fields: Full Name, WikiName, IRC nick, Location, and email address. The form would also have a list of interests to select from such as : art, coding, socializing, lecturing, music, writing. There would then be a place in the form asking the new member how he/she heard about us. ie. website, wiki, podcast, youtube. Before someone would be allowed to submit a membership form they would be required to agree to our terms. which are: that the member must be 13 or over, and that the member must agree with the Ubuntu code of conduct (which would be posted in full in the aggreement section)

I would like to propose a new schedule for meetings. We currently hold IRC meetings every week. The new meetings schedule would be as follows: April First week: IRC at Tues 6:00pm Second week: Phone Conference Tues 6pm also? Third week: IRC at Tues 6:00pm Fourth week: Real Life(TM) meeting / Phone Conference
Develop a secret handshake. But first we'd have to decide whether or not the secret handshake should have a wiki page.

Kidnap banjobacon and expose him to a room full of microsofties till he comes up with new and exciting project ideas for our team. *evil laugh*

I think Printing T-shirts with our Team Logo would be a good Idea. While we are at it, I think Our Team Logo needs to be redesigned as well.

But the T-Shirts don't have to be free as in free beer... it's enough if they're free as in free speech. I propose that every event have a commemorative tshirt. So for example we'll have a skiing event in some of New Yorks fine ski slopes, and a tshirt of "UBUNTU NY-loco team ski trip". That's how we should innitiate new users, have them design a t-shirt for an event. Don't show them the secret handshake until they do (or don't point them to the wiki page about the handshake, whatever).
It's all about people

Us upstate folks want to plan our own release party up here in Rochester NY, and while I guess it's best we do that as a sub-committee, I'd like to give a general status report about it if possible.
