I am seeing that as well on my XP box. I can't say that I am surprised, being that this is their first real expansion.

Yeah, http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=179161 mentions that error and that the servers are very busy, but I'd like to verify MoM is working in Linux before I spend all my time trying to get in on Linux (though my wife and I only have one Windows box, so it better work! ).

Servers are fixed. Those who paid attention would notice that the launcher installs VC++ libraries. You now need VC2005 libraries.

    Get winetricks from http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks

    Download the script.
    Run it with
    bash /path/to/winetricks vcrun2005
    bash /path/to/winetricks vcrun2005sp1

The first installs the libraries, second installs SP1 for them.

Once that is done, I got in to the game fine

For people that don't get this to work , here's a mini howto.

    ** Don't forget to get the LotROLinux-0.9.7 version **
for people who have the old version 0.9.6 , it does not work anymore.
    Get it from Sourceforge

I couldn't get this to work in any way with my old wine and actually had to reinstall wine !

*copy your Codemasters directory to a safe location first !!

    sudo apt-get autoremove wine
    sudo rm -r ~/.wine
*make sure everything of wine is removed !
    sudo apt-get install wine
*wait for it to complete and make the ~/.wine directory
*copy back the Codemasters directory to ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/
    Then use enigma's tip :

    Get winetricks from http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks

    Download the script.
    Run it with
    bash /path/to/winetricks vcrun2005
    bash /path/to/winetricks vcrun2005sp1

Then the game should run. ( I get logon server busy though, but that's normal apparently )

Some info I gathered while trying to get it to work under my old wine ( maybe it helps someone ) :

    Prerequisite : Having a working LOTRO.14 install

    Download offline MoM patches 1 ( 2+gig ) and 2 ( 500+mb ) from www.lotro-europe.com
    Extract Mines_of_Moria_Standalone_Patch1.zip and Mines_of_Moria_Standalone_Patch2.zip
    run Mines_of_Moria_Standalone_Patch1.exe which extracts itself
Then run Updater_0.0_2.01.exe which updates LOTRO.14 to MoM.1
Then run Mines_of_Moria_Standalone_Patch2.exe which doens't extract but just patches.
The patching took about 1 hour on my laptop.

Start Lotrolauncher.script and say Yes to the updates question.
It will update. They changed the updater dll so now you can actually see the progress. I like it.

go to synaptic package manager and
    - install Cabextract

    then
go to your LOTRO directory ( ./wine/drive_c/ etc etc )
    wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks
    chmod +x ./winetricks
    ./winetricks

btw, I'm still downloading patches now... sigh. After having patched the game with the 2 predownloadable offline patches, it still takes about 4 hours to get the patches installed.

before MoM i could switch desktops without a problem, now LOTRO switches to a different mode, and i can't activate it anymore, by trying it stops responding and i have to kill it.

anyone knows whats going on here?

Don't know what's going on, but I'm getting it too. The patch notes mentioned a FakeFullScreen thing, so I'm going to play with that see if I get something.

Maybe not real useful, but I found a partial fix. Well, it works for me at least.
For the record, I use XFCE.
Change workspaces and change back to have LotRO go funny.
Alt tab to another window in that workspace, and alt tab back. Now LotRO is back to normal for me.

    Hi
trying to get lotro to work after MoM.. Followed the guides here but I'm getting this error when I to to install the libraries from winetricks

    Code:
    Executing wine /home/magnus/.winetrickscache/vcrun2005/vcredist_x86.exe
    wine: cannot find '/home/magnus/.winetrickscache/vcrun2005/vcredist_x86.exe'
Note: command 'wine /home/magnus/.winetrickscache/vcrun2005/vcredist_x86.exe' returned status 2. Aborting.

Can you post the whole output from the command? It should have some wget output before that where it downloads the file, something like
    Code:
    Executing wget -nd -c --read-timeout=300 --retry-connrefused --header ....

This is my output from the bash wintetricks vcrun2005 command.
The file is then located at ~/.winetrickscache/vcrun2005/vcredist_x86.exe

Edit: I installed the two files via wine. Now it seems the gui-launcher is applying the MoM-uppgrade, which I guess will be a while. Thanks for looking in here in the middle of an expansion release enigma83
