Should Ubuntu Forum put ads to increase income?

I wouldn't be mad because of few well placed text or icon adds overhere. However, as Ubuntu Forums are now officially supported by the Ubuntu Foundation, I don't see a real reason of doing it but to get a little "market insights" to the users

What is ment by a few "small banner adds."

When some agent wants to profit from a closed private enterprize their opening shot is always " Well all we want is fair play or just let us have a litte space." Anything couched in such terms is a receipt for disaster.

It's the old ploy of "just wait until the camel gets his nose under the tent." Government has refined this approach to a high degree, The carrot and stick approach.

It's unnecessary and would add clutter. There are possibly a zillion other places one can go to access commericial sites such as PayPal and the like.

Why bring such intrusiveness to the ubuntu boards.

Dont want ads on ubuntuforums.org thanks.

I wouldnt mind, if they had a page, just for the curious, which was literally only adverts.
That way, if you wanted to help out, you could just go and start clicking

Ok, since people are under the impression that the forum administration is considering adding ads to the site - which, we are *NOT* - this thread is thereby creating confusion and will be closed to posting.

Let me restate:

We are *NOT* considering adding any type of banner ad to the forums at the this time!

Hey Ryan, is this another glitch?

I noticed some google ads as a non-logged-in user:

Edit: I opened a few tabs while logged in. I logged out, went to a tab that was still opened and clicked the new posts link (which already had a search id, I think) and then noticed this on one of the threads.

I'll let you know if I see it again.
