    Re: Computer Experience Evolution

The first "computer" I used ran on machine language and computed using blinkin LEDs. The more important one probably was some form of Unix, but I was to young and inexperienced to know what. It was a Digital Equipment terminal in my high school that was connected to the University of Delaware supercomputer. It was a printer terminal - there was no CRT monitor. We used to have fun making banners on it using Basic. What a waste of paper. Afer that I bought a used Radio Shack TRS-80. Then one of the first "IBM clones" with no hard drive. Ran DOS 1.1 from a 5.25 floppy. I used to write document files and whatever other data to the same disk, which shows you how small MSDOS was. My copy of MSDOS was pirated.

W00t, you missed like .. tons of em!
I started on a C64 and VIC20, mostly used the 64. For years had two disk drives as well, a printer and a plotter. Coded basic on it etc.. Was 3 yrs old when we got our first one in 1983.

After that was the beloved Atari STfm 1040, in 1988 id think. With a black and white highres (640x400 if i remember) monitor, and fm tuner for low and midres from tv. Atari was the coolest Still have an Atari emulatro on my linux box for some old time fun.

After that it was downhill, to DOS with 8088, win 3.1, 98, XP...

And then I saw the light, computing fas fun again and I owned my own computer
    Linux in 2003.
Anyone can do any amount of work provided it isn't the work he is supposed
to be doing at the moment.
