Yes, unfortunately it is that dreaded BroadCom 43xx.

I've found a ton of posts on it like I said but can't seem to crack it.

    Maybe I'm just too stooopid.

    L,

I've got the Broadcom BCM4312 in my Dell laptop. All I had to do was install the proprietary driver.

If you haven't tried it already -- System > Administration > Hardware Drivers and then activate the Broadcom wireless driver.

The other thing I would try would be to install the b43-fwcutter package to see if that works. From a terminal: sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter

    Hope that helps.

Another suggestion would be to try wicd (http://wicd.sourceforge.net/). It's a really nice network manager.

Finally got the wireless in this lapdog working.

The onboard, broadcom, is useless. I disabled it and stuck in a pcmia card from an old lappy.

Boom found it, conneced both WEP and WPA

I'm in business and this laptop is going back in the truck ******* free.

You guys ever get together as a group?

    If so when and where?

I need to be a fly on the wall and pick up some hints.

Actually, Chad (Jago6060) and I have been trying to plan something. It has proven to be a bit difficult with my schedule but I don't mind meeting up somewhere in Portland on a weekend.

Lee, you probably know more than me so I'll get some hints/tips from you!

    Doubtful I know more.

I've got a long way to go. Much to do, so I can promote this to some of my customers that need a break from the Micro$oft solutions.
