Hi, Just installed the latest version of Ubuntu, and cannot get my Iburst desktop modem to work. How do I install that, and how do I install the modem drivers - they are on a floppy disk?
For the desktop modem you do not need to install the drivers. You will also find that the drivers on the stiffy are for windows or mac. To install the desktop modem all you need is a patch cable, plug the network cable into your pc and into the ethernet port on the iburst modem. Then all you need is a working network card in your pc (which ubuntu almost always finds). Then run pppoeconf and follow the on-screen prompts, use the details that your service provider gave you.
Yip! That's what I did and works perfectly. Still using it. You might want to set your MTU to 1352.
Hi Guys, Hope you do not mind me posting this question here. I am looking at getting dome high-speed internet connection at home - up to now I had to battle with dial-up. I have 2 options: 3G (MTN/Vodacom) or i-Burst. Any suggestions as to the better option around? If I go with i-Burst, should I use the desktop modem or the usb modem? Thanks man. B
For Linux support, you want one that is able to connect over ethernet rather than USB.
But doesn't the Iburst modem work with both ??
