Ok, so I was bored...
Was reading some threads about browsers and decided to do my own incredibly scientific test to see which was the fastest.
The test times were based on a reload of the following link:
http://scragz.com/tech/mozilla/test-rendering-time.php
Reloads were made three consecutive times from a 1mbp wireless connection, and the average time was taken.
Browsers were running with no other programs running on the system.
Clearly, start-up times etc. are not included in the analysis - but the results were surprising.
Here they are (in reverse order)...
Firefox (!) 8.79 seconds (maybe this was due to my extensions??)
Swiftfox (!) 8.75
Epiphany 8.7
Opera 7.84 (that's more like it)
Konqueror - wins with 7.24 (and was running in gnome)
Blimey!
This make Konqueror 8.3% faster than Opera, its nearest rival, and a huge 21.4% faster than Firefox.
By my estimates, if I spend 3hrs a day on the web, then Konqueror will get me an extra 35 minutes worth of web-time - so, by this time tomorrow, the time saved will have compensated for the time spent on this experiment!
