One of the most often mispelled things is not a word, but an abbreviation. Etcetera. Abbreviation: etc., is so often put down as ect.

Inappropriate use of apostrophes really annoys me. Particularly when it is used for pluralization, eg. DVD's where it should be DVDs.
There seems to be a lot more inappropriate use of apostrophes these days, for example: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/help/3681938.stm
This is how it should be done: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blast/writing/a...ostrophe.shtml
Also accommodation and necessary are another two words that are often miss pelt.
(I have spell checked this posting)

I am so anal when it comes to spelling, all the above listed words bug me so much when i see them!!
I DO commit the apostrophe one quite a bit though, on purpose As crazy as it sounds, sometimes it just seems to make my point more effectively, lol. Yet I know, even as I am typing it, this isn't a contraction, nor is it possessive, so why the hell am I doing it??!! lol
