    Academic Referencing Tools

Would like some input into members' favorite bibliography/reference management tools. In your opinion, which combinations of database and word processor work best for preparing a manuscript for submission to a journal? I have tried lyx with jabref but wasn't quite satisfied (not to mention that scientific journals won't accept a lyx/latex submission).

    Re: Academic Referencing Tools

I'm still struggling to find a bibliography manager that I'm happy with myself... I've recently grown dissatisfied with OOo and Bibus and am currently in the process of moving over to a combination of LyX and JabRef. Was there anything in particular that you didn't like about the latter?

One interesting development is Zotero, which is an extension for Firefox. It doesn't offer integration with any word processors yet, but there are plans to introduce that functionality.

Let me know how you get on!

The only things I didn't like about lyx/jabref were: difficulty designing new document layouts, and that .doc files are recognized universally by publishers.

Emacs has a good bibliography manager. Also you can try Texmacs or Auctex.
