Thumbs down How do I change the mouse theme?

Hi I've joined back with ubuntu after trying non-stop linux versions from ark all the way to xandros. I've got most things to work with the exceptions to games on wine, but I can't figure out how to install mouse themes. I would like to change my pointers, but have no idea how. I've read all the mouse threads on this site and gcursor won't seem to work >.< I double click the tar.gz file and it loads but doesn't give me the option to select it as my cursor.

currently running ubuntu 6.10 edgy eft and using the gnome session

    Any advice?

Go into synaptic type in cursor in search and install "gcursor".
Then in your System---preferences you will find Cursor selection, from there you can install your theme..
