Good Howto
The only thing I would like to comment is that in ubuntu you dont have to copy the firmware to
/lib/firmware/2.6.17-10-generic/
Just
/lib/firmware
is enough, and even better, because then you wont need to do anything when you get a new version of the kernel.
eg. you wont need to copy the driver to new directory each time you change kernels.

- anaconda
ok fixed it!!!!
well does anyone know howto get the mic working ?
Hello,
could you add a quick info on which firmware is compatible with hvr-1100
thx,
regards
dood
I've got a HVR 1100, which has a Conexant chip onboard. The one in the tutorial, which has a Philips onboard, is a HVR 1110.
The 1100 is already supported since 2.6.17.x (could also be a 2.6.18.x-kernel, don't know exactly).
DVB is supported for both cards, analog not... nice images, but no sound.
At least, that's what I think. It has been a couple of months since I tried to install my HVR 1100 in Linux. If analog TV-signals (with sound) are now supported, please let me know !![]()
Hello from me too..
I just installed kubuntu in order to try my hvr-1100 on linux if it is working..
The link for the firmware is not working.. Do you have any other link??
okk

I have the HVR-950 and I used the following procedure in Debian Etch and it did not work, but I am about to try it with kubuntu Feisty, I just need to find the MythTV packages for Feisty:
http://lunapark6.com/?p=2682
The link shown in that article:
hg clone http://linuxtv.org/hg/~mrechberger/v4l-dvb-kernel
no longer works but the one in your tutorial worked. Maybe this will work in kubuntu even though it did not work for me in Debian.
I got the HVR-950 and can't get sound.
If it's not one thing, it's another....
has anyone had any luck getting sound to work in tvtime or any application for that matter?
i've tried sox and everything, no go...
