    Hello guys,

The program works but I can't stop recording.
Before it the stop rec button appeared but now I don't have it anymore.
The shortcut is also not working ctrl+c.
    Any idea what to do?

Re: Record my desktop - Tutorial

    Hey Guys

I've installed the packages and it starts and records. The only problem I'm experiencing is the movie is a bit choppy, I changed the frames p/s but I know that isn't the solution.

The real problem that's bothering me now is the fact that I can't properly record my dual monitor desktop. The measurements are 1080x3840 and I am currently running Maverick.

Ideas, solutions love to hear em.

i do record my desktop using ezvid free screen recorder for windows. it can be a great alternative if you want. i used it a lot and so far it performs well and it's also a freeware, so nothin to worry about

With record my Desktop i get a strange problem - it keeps doing somthing and there is a black rectangular border on the screen (the area being captured) but nothing happens beyond that. q or c or Ctrl+c nothing stops it. If i forcibly try closing all windows that border is still there. The only way is to reboot. And ofcourse i also do not get the screen captured video.

Have a nice day, I am using recordmydesctop and the ogv file i want to convert for avi whit mancoder, but i have the folowing error:
Cannot set LAME options, check bitrate/samplerate, some very low bitrates
    (<32) need lower samplerates (i.e. -srate 8000).
If everything else fails, try a preset.
    Exiting...
    what is wrong?

I can not stop the recording when doing full screen when using gtk-recordmydesktop front end

I get a white bar at top and no ability to use any of the menus.
This is on cinnamon and gnome3 desktops.

What you can do is open a terminal by typing alt-F2
    type gnome-terminal
    type htop
    find the pid number
    open a tab
    type kill pid number

and then you get control of the machine back
so it is very hard to use this program.
surprised no one else talks about how difficult to stop recording full screen.

I found other people have the same problem.

    http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=650353

all control of the application is cut off and they have to kill by a shell command like me.

Surprised that there are not more complaints or a fix, so to me seems like not enough users to notice or perhaps this app crashes their system so they reboot and give up. If it is running and recording and you dont do anything, it could fill up your drive.
