Got this working for Jaunty x64.
Note that
should have actually readdpkg -x xfoil_6.97-1_i386.deb .
sudo cp usr/lib/libg2c* /usr/lib32/
rm -r usr
It's been a really long time so I don't expect that this happened, but was a x64 .deb ever developed?dpkg -x libg2c0_3.4.6-8ubuntu2_i386.deb .

Here is Xfoil for amd64, using double precision and the Intel fortran compiler. Tested on Fedora 12 and Ubuntu 9.10.

I actually started an open aerospace community specializing in stuff like this (http://openae.org). We are currently hosting Icarosaurus's two xfoil DEB packages, along with directions on how to quickly get it running on Karmic.

If you are using Lucid, apt-get install xfoil would do. I just knew it yesterday that Lucid comes with package xfoil 6.97. You can check here.
