    Thanks you, that makes sense now

    You also might need this line in your "module" section of your xorg.conf file. Only if it flickers.

    Code:
       Load           "dbe"

    I did all those codes at the end i entred "conky" as you said and gave me this error:

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    Now I've finally got this to work (partly). It shows now. But I'm insecure how to change it's size it's too broad for my resolution. I've tried some different things but none of them seems to work. I would like to get it transparent as well, but when I set it to be it just totally freaks out. ? :S
    I would also like to know how I can get it to show the music that I play. Or if it is possible at all with rhythmbox ?

    Code:
    #avoid flicker

    double_buffer yes

    That's because of the conky you used. In that code, the person who made it checked their harddrive size, It's location was /media/fat. You don't have that so that part is useless to you. Then you tried on with a dual core CPU, you don't have that. That is why you have to customize it.

    **nevermind, after a reboot it's working just dandy**

    ok, i really didn't want to have to post after googling but again it's another person using compiz-fusion and flickering. along with the code below, i've added "dbe" in xorg

    this is code copied/pasted from a few places so, thanks to those folks for getting this far

    Code:

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    How do i enable Direct rendering? I only added 'dri' and 'dbe' to the module section of xorg.conf and
    Code:
    Section    "Extensions"
        Option    "Composite"    "Enable"
    EndSection
    and
    Code:
    Option       "AllowGLXWithComposite"    "true"
    These are for xcompmgr, although I think there's another one I can add to the device section to make things faster. (and there's drm, do I need it? -GeForce 6600GT PCIE)

    <edit>
    adding 'aiglx' to modules, creating this section
    Code:
    Section "DRI"
        Mode 0666
    EndSection
    and adding these lines to the section 'Device'
    Code:
    Option       "AllowGLXWithComposite"    "true"
        Option         "AccelMethod"    "EXA"
        Option         "TripleBuffer" "true"
        Option         "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "true"
    Gave an awesome boost to my desktop performance and conky smoothness, although I don't know what some options do lol I haven't had any problems, on the contrary

    Artist: ${execi 1 xmmsctrl title | cut -d "-" -f1}

    Number  : ${execi 1 xmmsctrl getpos} / ${execi 25 cat /tmp/xmms-info | grep Tunes | cut -d ":" -f2}
    Then in your tmp folder make a script called 'xmms-info' which will look like the one below. Make it executable however you like to.

    Code:
    #!/bin/bash

    #This script is free to modify and distribute.
    #Use at your own risk.

    #Requirement: xmms-infopipe

    maxcol=35
    file=/tmp/xmms-info

    #Grab needed information
    pos=`cat $file | grep uSecPosition: | cut -d : -f2`
    len=`cat $file | grep uSecTime: | cut -d : -f2`

    #Count the length in characters of the title
    size=`echo $title | wc -c`
    #Calculate current position within that length
    poscol=$(echo "$pos*$maxcol/$len" | bc)

    #Printing
    for (( i=0; i<$maxcol; i++ ))
    do
      if [ $i -eq $poscol ]; then
        echo -n 'O'
      else
        echo -n '='
      fi
    done
    Now for the final bit. Open up synaptic and get the file 'xmmsctrl'. Now you should be good.
    trying to add this to my own conky script but am a little confused after the person you were helping said it worked without the script? i've installed the pipe plugin and have pasted the top code into my .rc file. do i still need to create the second script?

    Just got back from my first day of school, it's overrated.

    Once you have infopipe and xmmsctrl, it should work. Of course you need to open up XMMS, go to it's plugins and enable the infopipe.
