    I think your "visual precept of" the OS is very perceptive! Ooooo that's bad!!!

    I found that today ... and it "all" works... there is even a RED ALERT in the space in the upper right if there is trash! can't remember for the life of me who gave me that line ... I wouldn't have figured that out in a hundred years!

    Code:
    TEXT
    ${color2}${time %H%M%S  %d.%m.%y}\
    ${goto 370}STARDATE: ${time %s}\
    ${goto 820}UNIVERSAL EARTHDATE: ${time %Y%j%H%M%S}\
    ${goto 1100}${if_match  ${execi 15 du -sh ~/.local/share/Trash/ | cut --characters 1-2} != 12}${font lcars:bold:size=12}${voffset -5}${color9}R E D    A L E R T${font}${else}${endif}\
    ${goto 1220}${color}${uptime_short}
    Took a while to do that one ... glad I didn't loose it.

    To whom ever: If you gave me that line, take a bow!
    Yup, that's pretty clever. On my system a slight tweak is needed, my empty trash returns 16K not 12K with...
    Code:
    du -sh ~/.local/share/Trash/
    I may use that some day.

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    Yay, got my new wide-screen monitor today, 20" seems massive compared to the old CRT's I've been using for the past 6 months or so. I can't wait to start Conky'ing on it.

    I did stop by M.I.L.'s house yesterday and put on a simple little Conky calendar on her desktop. She thought it was the coolest thing ever.

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    It's getting late so I gotta put my new "toy" up for tonight. I did make some headway though.

    I still need to add an email notifier and maybe a little weather Conky (haven't decided on that yet).

    I'm using the Conky Light theme from this Deviant Art user. Changed the battery variable to stop that error, but I still get an avalanche of "unknown variable" once the rings load...

    Ring Meters by londonali1010 (2009)

    This script draws percentage meters as rings. It is fully customisable; all options are described in the script.

    IMPORTANT: if you are using the 'cpu' function, it will cause a segmentation fault if it tries to draw a ring straight away. The if statement near the end of the script uses a delay to make sure that this doesn't happen. It calculates the length of the delay by the number of updates since Conky started. Generally, a value of 5s is long enough, so if you update Conky every 1s, use update_num > 5 in that if statement (the default). If you only update Conky every 2s, you should change it to update_num > 3; conversely if you update Conky every 0.5s, you should use update_num > 10. ALSO, if you change your Conky, is it best to use "killall conky; conky" to update it, otherwise the update_num will not be reset and you will get an error.

    To call this script in Conky, use the following (assuming that you save this script to ~/scripts/rings.lua):
    	lua_load ~/scripts/rings-v1.2.1.lua
    	lua_draw_hook_pre ring_stats

    Changelog:
    + v1.2.1 -- Fixed minor bug that caused script to crash if conky_parse() returns a nil value (20.10.2009)
    + v1.2 -- Added option for the ending angle of the rings (07.10.2009)
    + v1.1 -- Added options for the starting angle of the rings, and added the "max" variable, to allow for variables that output a numerical value rather than a percentage (29.09.2009)
    + v1.0 -- Original release (28.09.2009)

    @darkaudit
    It's probably this section in rings-v1.2.1.lua at line 281 where no variable is defined...
    Code:
        {
            name='',
            arg='',
            max=100,
            bg_colour=0x000000,
            bg_alpha=0.6,
            fg_colour=0x1faaf0,
            fg_alpha=0.6,
            x=274, y=464,
            radius=3,
            thickness=13,
            start_angle=0,
            end_angle=360
        },
    Comment out that section.
    eg
    Code:
    --[[    {
            name='',
            arg='',
            max=100,
            bg_colour=0x000000,
            bg_alpha=0.6,
            fg_colour=0x1faaf0,
            fg_alpha=0.6,
            x=274, y=464,
            radius=3,
            thickness=13,
            start_angle=0,
            end_angle=360
        }, ]]

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    I was playing around this evening and thought of something useful I would like my Conky to do. I'm sure it has been done before, but I never noticed anyone with it.

    I wanted to display the title of any disk in my DVD drive or display "Drive Empty" if there is no disk inserted. This is what I came up with...

    Code:
    ###
    ##  DVD drive info
    #
    ${color0}DVD ${color}${alignr}${if_empty ${execp df -H | grep 'sr0' | cut -c46-66}}Drive Empty${else}${execp df -H | grep 'sr0' | cut -c46-66}${endif}
    To my surprise it seems to work (cut points may need adjusted depending on your system).

    No disk...
    Empty.png

    With disk...
    Disk IN.png

    There might be a better way to do this; if so, let me know.
