    Here's a semi-interesting effect I haven't seen before (probably because I haven't looked hard enough) but it's new to me anyway

    By using black text color and a gray shade color Conky looks like it's engraved in the desktop.

    PHP Code:

    I solved this by raising the time for updating the external IP substantially. I noticed this problem when I keept starting and restarting conky during some tuning. whatismyip.org doesn't like to get flooded. As my IP doesn't change every 60 seconds (for me it's more like once every month or so and never when the system is up and running) I decided to set the wget interval to 3600 (i.e. once every hour) like this:

    Code:
    ${offset 840}${color slate grey}IP: ${color }${execi 3600 wget -O - http://whatismyip.org/ | tail}
    Haven't had any problems since and I always have the IP showing.

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    I quite like mine, although I'm not completely done coloring the bottom-right instance... For some reason though when the bottom-right one starts up, it starts "too wide" for some reason (see 1.png). After a few seconds it updates itself and becomes the proper width, but the background is messed up (see 2.png). Finally, after the second update, everything's normal like in the main screenshot. Anyone know how to fix this?

    That web feed address is wrong.

    For a start, there are never spaces in a web feed address.

    It should just be: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/rss/news
