Getdeb doesn't have an intrepid deb... last night did try one of their deb's to no avail after the initial compiling disaster.

Tonight I will post output from my botched attempt. Thanks much!

Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

How do I assign the response from a system call or rss feed to a variable?

After it's assigned, I want to do an if_match against it.

(It's specifically an RSS feed, of which the description will always 'online' or 'offline'. I want to print online in white, and offline in red).

Ok i can see that there are a lot of queries and replies but i can't find the one i am looking for!!!Crinos i want your help too about your scripts....So i have see your conky setup from here http://conky.linux-hardcore.com/?page_id=764 i have copy the script i have make them executable by the command chmod +x /path/file.sh but i always get this substitution error which i think there is an error about the ${hr 1} variable for conky in the script. For some reason this is accepted by conky and something else even if i remove this variable i can get no colors!!!my .conkyrc and all the script are exactly the same with ones in the link i mentioned before!!!!PLEASE crinos is your job i like it help me

It would be best if you post a screen shot. Also post any error messages you get when you try to start conky from terminal.
I have a strong hatred of KDE

    Here's my conky config.

Pretty simple, but shows all the information I need.

The 'service: online' section at the bottom takes its data from a php script I have on my webserver... it creates an rss feed from the services I give it, and returns an online / offline status... it's useful for a quick check to of everything running!

    Code:
    # UBUNTU-CONKY
    # A comprehensive conky script, configured for use on
    # Ubuntu / Debian Gnome, without the need for any external scripts.
    #

That's really nice...Looks like screenlets! Only criticism I have is that you can tell you've resized the same rounded rectangle for all the backgrounds. If you use three parts for each rectangle (the top with rounded corners, a section from the middle, and the bottom with rounded corners), you'll be able to resize the middle section to the height you need, and it won't look scaled...
