    Chrinos:

    For your information and my assistance:

    Code:
    alignment top_left
    background yes
    cpu_avg_samples 2
    default_color lightgrey
    default_outline_color green
    default_shade_color red
    double_buffer yes
    draw_borders no
    draw_graph_borders no
    draw_outline no
    draw_shades no
    gap_x 10
    gap_y 10
    maximum_width 300
    minimum_size 250
    net_avg_samples 1
    no_buffers yes
    override_utf8_locale yes
    own_window yes
    own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager
    own_window_transparent yes
    own_window_type normal
    text_buffer_size 1024
    total_run_times 0
    update_interval 0.5
    uppercase no
    use_spacer right
    use_xft yes
    xftalpha 0.1
    xftfont Arial:size=10

    TEXT
    ${execp /home/darren/Conky/conkytemplate.sh}
    ${rss http://www.coastalwatch.com/rss/cwreports_180.xml 60 item_desc 0}
    ${texeci 1000 feh --bg-scale "`grep 'wallpaper=' ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-appletsrc | tail -n1 | tail --bytes=+11`"}
    Your conkytemplate script:

    Code:
     #!/bin/bash
    # conkytemplate.sh
    # by Crinos512
    # Usage:
    #  ${execp ~/.conky/conkyparts/conkytemplate.sh}
    #
    echo "\${font conkybackgroundfi:size=10}\${color lightgrey}\${goto 0}EDDDDDDDDDDF\${goto 0}EDDDDDDDDDDF\${goto 0}EDDDDDDDDDDF\${goto 0}EDDDDDDDDDDF\${goto 0}EDDDDDDDDDDF"
    for i in {1..26}
    do
       echo "\${voffset -2}\${goto 0}DDDDDDDDDDDD\${goto 0}DDDDDDDDDDDD\${goto 0}DDDDDDDDDDDD\${goto 0}DDDDDDDDDDDD\${goto 0}DDDDDDDDDDDD"
    done
    echo "\${voffset -2}\${goto 0}GDDDDDDDDDDC\${goto 0}GDDDDDDDDDDC\${goto 0}GDDDDDDDDDDC\${goto 0}GDDDDDDDDDDC\${goto 0}GDDDDDDDDDDC\${font}\${color}"
    echo "\${voffset -860}"

    exit 0
    And I just put

    Code:
    ${execp /home/darren/Conky/conkytemplate.sh}
    in after the line in my conky calling my rss feed

    - I see the top half of the characters in the first line of text.

    BTW have you picked up on the fact that I have no idea how your script works

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    OK, I notice your conkyrc is somewhat short, and I am unfamiliar with the ${rss} variable... however, try this one instead.

    Code:
     #!/bin/bash
    # conkytemplate.sh
    # by Crinos512
    # Usage:
    #  ${execp ~/.conky/conkyparts/conkytemplate.sh}
    #
    echo "\${font conkybackgroundfi:size=10}\${color lightgrey}\${goto 0}EDDDDDDDDDDF\${goto 0}EDDDDDDDDDDF\${goto 0}EDDDDDDDDDDF\${goto 0}EDDDDDDDDDDF\${goto 0}EDDDDDDDDDDF"
    echo "\${voffset -2}\${goto 0}DDDDDDDDDDDD\${goto 0}DDDDDDDDDDDD\${goto 0}DDDDDDDDDDDD\${goto 0}DDDDDDDDDDDD\${goto 0}DDDDDDDDDDDD"
    echo "\${voffset -2}\${goto 0}GDDDDDDDDDDC\${goto 0}GDDDDDDDDDDC\${goto 0}GDDDDDDDDDDC\${goto 0}GDDDDDDDDDDC\${goto 0}GDDDDDDDDDDC\${font}\${color}"
    echo "\${voffset -30}"

    exit 0
    the spacing will likely be off.... adjust the voffset value to taste.

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    I think I'll just show a screenshot here so you can see the result for yourself.

    As you can see the output from the rss variable is overwritten by
    EDDDDDDDDDDF
    DDDDDDDDDDDD
    GDDDDDDDDDDC

    I'm quite sure the output from the rss variable contains the information complete from the feed. As the information runs off the edge of the window it appears to be cut off, though it is all there.

    I guess the word wrapping issue can be resolved through the correct use and formatting of the voffset (and offset?) variables though it is a little beyond me at this stage

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    OH!

    you need to install the font from my first post on the topic: here

    just drop it into your ~/.fonts directory.

    then it should look much better, you can make the template wider by adding an extra "D" to each group of D's in the script.

    (Also you should probably switch back to black for the template for readability, and 13.5 for the font size to avoid gaps or lines in the template.)

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    Mwahahahaha.... done one better on the background template
    .

    I've done something cool... it appears to work...
    But its not wrapping the text from my RSS feed

    I think maybe you were talking about something completely different?
    The transparent window is great though

    Hi adalal,

    Conky is addictive - it's never perfect!

    Your doesn't look bad, it's a work in progress.

    One comment to start you off on the addictive "conky tweaking" routine:

    In your image I see:
    Code:
    conky     14929    0.32   0.17
    You can bring that down a lot if you change the conkyForecast to a template and using only 1 "execpi" call in conky to display ALL your weather information using a "template".

    For example you have 33 execi calls to get weather info (a lot of processor usage):
    Code:
    ${color orange}WEATHER @ ${execi 3600 conkyForecast --location=UKXX0104 -d CN}, ${execi 3600 conkyForecast --location=UKXX0104 -d CO} ${hr 2}$color
    ${font ConkyWeather:size=10}${execi 3600 conkyForecast --location=UKXX0104 -d WF}$font${execi 3600 conkyForecast --location=UKXX0104 -d CC} |Tonight: ${font Moon Phases:size=10}${execi 3600 conkyForecast --location=UKXX0104 -d MF}$font ${execi 3600 conkyForecast --location=UKXX0104 -d MP} ${alignr}Temp: ${execi 3600 conkyForecast --location=UKXX0104 -d HT}
