First, you will need to install feh from the repositories... then add the following to the bottom of your conkyrc:

    Code:
    ${texeci 1000 feh --bg-scale "`grep 'wallpaper=' ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-appletsrc | tail -n1 | tail --bytes=+11`"}
That should do it... let me know if you want an explanation of WHY it works.
I already know about the feh thing for TRANSPARENCY. What i want is TRANSLUCENCY. Sorta kinda see through. I found a way for gnome and compiz but im using kde4 with kwm.

...having said that, I do remember some posts recently regarding achieving this same effect using ${cpubar}. It was fairly recent... probably within the last 5-10 pages.

    Happy Hunting!

what i want is for the panel i have on the left to allow conky to overlap with it but not anything else. I'm sorry if thats stil not clear.

I don't use KDE so can't help you with Questions 1 and 3.

    You don't remember! {sniff] I'm hurt.

    ${hr} text ${hr} doesn't work BUT:

Pick a CPU you do NOT have and you can do it using ${cpubar}:
    Code:
    ${color7}${cpubar cpu3 1,50}$color HI ${color7}${cpubar cpu3 1,50}$color
You can place them anywhere, change the length (50) or double them (2,50) etc. etc.

EDIT: or get creative and play with colours:
    Code:
    ${color8}${cpubar cpu3 4,50}$color HI ${color7}${cpubar cpu3 4,50}$color
    ${color9}${cpubar cpu3 1,50}$color${goto 89}${color9}${cpubar cpu3 1,50}$color

    ${color8}${cpubar cpu3 4,50}$color HI ${color7}${cpubar cpu3 4,50}$color
    ${voffset -27}${color9}${cpubar cpu3 1,50}$color${goto 89}${color9}${cpubar cpu3 1,50}$color
    HowTo:
    • Create the first line with the text and the line picking colours
    • Create the second line using the {goto xx} command to place the second line directly below the second line of the first command.
    • Now use the {voffset -xx} command to bring it up into the line with the text.

    See second image attached.

    Have a nice day.

Just out of curiosity, and because searching for my thoughts don't yield the results I want.

Does anyone have the scripts/conky code for pulling quotations or news headlines from websites? I want to tweak it so I can poll fmylife.com for some hilarious quotes, and have it update daily.

Take a look at posts #401 and #402; looking for something like that?

Probably the best solution if that site has an RSS feed; and that I could re-teach myself fairly rapidly.

I don't quite know if the site has any feeds associated though.
