Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

Ok I don't mean to interrupt the good flow of awesomeness coming from all of these conkys...but I would love to use some of these. What my problem comes down to is I can't edit any settings. I understand where the .conkyrc file goes and everything else (for me its /home/metalhead656/.conkyrc). I have tried changing it a bunch of times and the screenshot below shows what I get with every different code I enter. Is there a 'default' setting somewhere that I'm missing?

Please help because I would love to show my codings off too

I'm running 8.10, with compiz if that matters. I also have conky enabled at startup. Anyways here is what I get when I enter 'conky' on the command line.

Conky: use_spacer should have an argument of left, right, or none. 'no' seems to be some form of 'false', so defaulting to none.
Conky: desktop window (1a000ab) is subwindow of root window (1a6)
    Conky: window type - normal
Conky: drawing to created window (0x3800002)
    Conky: drawing to single buffer

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Are you using
    Code:
     conky -c /home/metalhead656/.conkyrc
    to start your conky
The -c tells conky to load a specific conky config. instead of a default location

Most people create a folder in their home folder called conky and put their conky configs in there.
Then to load any specific conky
    Code:
conky -c ~/conky/"name of conky config"

I also have weather.ttf installed, but have not configured conky to use it yet. When I remember my shortcut keys, I am sure I will replace it with the weather...

I was reffering to http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php...postcount=5409 rather than yours. Sorry for the confusion.

Here's a calendar to start you off:

    ${font LCDMono:size=9}${pre_exec cal -3 | cut -c23-44}$font

You'll need to change the size and colour etc., etc. If you don't have LCDMono font use any other mono font you have. It needs a mono font to format correctly.

    Have a nice day

    Always glad to help.
Your command line "conky" is calling up the "default" installed conky.
    You need to personalize it.

As stinkeye said check out my guide that will get you started on the right path:
