I was hoping I didn't stuff it up too much, as the layout is really sweet.
I will be getting weather working tonight [after work sometime] if I get get this problem sorted.

    Thanks for any help.
Ahhh the answer to your question about weather is not in this thread, it's in Conky Weather Python Script.

The first post will give instructions on how to register at weather.com and apply the proper codes to the weather.py file for you to get your weather running.

If you have more questions about weather ask me, I'm happy to help.

    Glad you like my layout.
    Have a nice day.
    Bruce

PS: somewhere in that thread is a nice little script to check your mails as well.

    Where your code says:
    Code:
    use_spacer left
    use_xft	yes
    change it to:
    Code:
    use_spacer left
    override_utf8_locale yes
    use_xft	yes
    That should do it.
    Have a nice day.

I'm having problems with a fuzzy box occurring prior to the conky displaying (see attached). I'm running compiz, Desktop Drapes and BOINC in the background.

I had that problem and found that if I deleted the return at the end of each line and then add my own carriage return it removed the little box. It's as if there's a hidden character there !!!

I see this thread has become an all things conky; I'll have to read through it as I get some more time.

Here's the new screenshot and .conkyrc; many thanks to all the posters here with all the ideas.

Unfortunately gnome-look seems to be down now so I can't find and link to them. I will update later if I can.
That is overflowing with epic-awesome, my friend. Very nice work.
I'll be posting mine soon, most likely. Still working on it.

Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    Hello,

I sort of have conky working.
I installed it and have edited my .conkyrc and set it to run at startup.
when I log in, before the desktop loads, I see the conky output, but then when my panels and background load, conky goes away.

I have tried many samply conky files to no avail.
I am running Ubuntu Studio Hardy on a dell vostro 1000

    thoughts?

    is it something simple?

    Thanks.

    -John
