This is my current conky config, I'm not the original creator, but I've tweaked it to my will. Anyhow I'm not very good at scripting, but I'd like some help if possible with putting a very simple weather addition on the very bottom portion of this config, and a lunar phase next to the Ubuntu on the top. Then it'll be as complete as I want it.

I've seen that conky before. Quite interesting.

For simple bash weather scripts take a look at Teo's group of scripts (link in my signature)
    • 1a)Accuweather_ConkyWeather_Font - 1a_12-2-14
    • 1b1)Accuweather - Images - 1b1_12-2-14
    • 1b2)Accuweather - ConkyWeather font - 1b2_12-2-14
    • 1c)Accuweather Hourly Forecast - 1c_12-2-14
    • 1d)Accuweather RSS - 1d_12-2-14
    • 2a)WUnderground ICAL - International users - 2a_12-2-14
    • 2b)WUnderground API - All users - 2b_15-2-14
    • 3)NWS XML - USA users - 3_12-2-14
    • 4) Weather.com conky script - all users - 4_12-2-14
    • 5) Moon phases' script - 5_12-2-14

the two in bold have today's moon phase in them and both are full featured multiple day scripts - although it's not necessary to display everything.

All the scripts come with a couple of PDF files to help you get them up and running.

I would suggest once you try, copy your conky to the "weather" directory and run your conky from there with the added weather information. But that's only a suggestion.

    Code:
    conky -c ~/2b_Wunderground_API/seth.conky
It isn't "necessary" that the conky reside in ~/ and be called ~/.conkyrc

Either of them could work very nicely with your conky.

    Interesting...
I'll have to investigate the "latest"...

What are the key features "now"? The "All users" has piqued my interest.
Windows assumes the user is an idiot.
    Linux demands proof.

If you notice: 3)NWS XML - USA users - 3_12-2-14 is only good in the US - not for me here in the southern hemisphere

All users means that the script can be used by anyone anywhere in the world, metric or imperial.

These are not LUA scripts - bash scripts - so they are not interactive at all. I'd like to see what you do with them.

Example: 4_WeatherCom_all - use to be two scripts - now - one script with two default conkys:
    • .conkyrc_weather_com
    • .conkyrc_weather_com_metric

Go ahead, wander over to Teo's and check-em out.

Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

After seeing seth7's conky and his idea I had to dig out my old "all text" conky (it's been posted here a few times - try and find it) and add a pure text weather section.
I had tried seth7's conky it didn't line up right - my guess is it was a font thing.

I copied #/media/5/Conky/S11_all-text.conky" to "/media/5/Conky/Teo_wun/S11_all-text_wun.conky" and tweaked it using Teo's 2b)WUnderground API - All users script

Since there are no images I turned on argb true transparency and shaded it to 150 and added the Weather section to the bottom:

KUDOS to seth7 for the idea

    S11_all-text_wun.conky
    Code:
    # pkill -xf "conky -c /media/5/Conky/Teo_wun/S11_all-text_wun.conky" &
    # conky -c /media/5/Conky/Teo_wun/S11_all-text_wun.conky &

    # killall conky && conky -c /media/5/Conky/S11_all-text.conky &

Just so you know, it's the Monofur font that gives the curved look to the ASCII characters.

A little more tweaking and I'll be happy with it - which I did ... Then I made a horizontal conky out of it:

    Thank you Seth7

    Still using ~/wun/conky_configs/wunrci over here.
Windows assumes the user is an idiot.
    Linux demands proof.

If life ever leaves me time to play with computers again, I will have to get a Raspberry Pi... Nice job on that Conky

I spent a little time getting back to basics with a simple Conky config file on my newest Puppy Linux thumb drive OS.

    Screenshot_2014-03-18_211553.jpg

I had to cheat a bit and reference http://conky.sourceforge.net/variables.html and http://conky.sourceforge.net/config_settings.html to get this simple config done. It's amazing how short a time it takes to completely forget how to do the simplest things.
