Hi, I am very new to conky! Just using Conky Manager is what got me working into Conky in the first place because I cannot do much scripting. anyways.
To the point, back in Windows, using Rainmeter, we could utilize the desktop for system monitoring & provide customized links to various applications right from the desktop itself. Which i feel was a good use of space and the Customized triggers(0 i've forgot what those are called) were pretty neat looking.
Now, I know Conky is a System Monitor and thats about it, but any chance we can add such behavior to conky using scripting. Is it being done & i've missed it.
If you don't know what i mean of using Rainmeter, heres is the deviantart page you can check out (http://www.deviantart.com/customizat...tor/rainmeter/)
P.S. I like a clean desktop, but some of the works do look neat and integrated into the wallpaper & very nice.

First of all, sorry for my bad english.
I'm trying to setting up the amazing VindDSL conky but I have a few problems:
1) This is actually really really weird. As you can see:
the 12.10 text, next to the ubuntu logo, is written using "RadioSpace" font because I can't use the right one (UbuntuTitle: http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/Ubuntu-Title).
If I try typing:
that's what happen:Code:${voffset -33}${font OpenLogos:size=103}${color2}v${font}${voffset -82}${goto 179}${font UbuntuTitle:bold:size=19.6}${color4}1${offset 1}2${offset 1}.${offset 0}1${offset 0}0${font}
The 12.10 is not written with the UbuntuTitle font, as it should. I just tried to replace UbuntuTitle with any other font name, and it works just fine, but I can't make it work with the UbuntuTitle font.
That really grinds my gears!!!
2) I have 4 cores CPU and I wonder how I can display 3.2 Ghz instead of 0.8 Ghz (0.8 is referred to 1 single core >>> 0.8x4=3.2)
3) In the “time” section, why does not appear the “pm/am” indicator?
Code:${voffset -4}${fontRadioSpace:size=32}${color3}${if_match ${time %l}<=9}${alignc7}${time %l:%M%p}${else}${if_match ${time %l}>=10}${alignc-1}${time %l:%M%p}${endif}${endif}${font}
is %p correct?
4) Since i don't use neither rhythmbox nor banshee (I usually go with Audacious) how can i display the information about mp3s using Audacious?
Thank you for your help.

I'm pretty sure applications can be launched by clicking on areas of conky using LUA scripts, but I haven't had the time to figure LUA out yet. You might be able to easily mimic that behavior by placing transparent (invisible) icons over the areas of the conky you want associated with the applications. I suspect there is a way to fix icons in place to keep them from being moved as well.
Who's Awesome? You're Awesome.
I notice right away you have both...
temperature_unit fahrenheit
temperature_unit celsius
in your configuration settings. Get rid of the Fahrenheit one.
also in your line....
${weather http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/LQBK.html tempetature}
temperature is spelled wrong, so I'd be surprised if you are actually returning a result here.
Also, unless I'm missing something, does your computer actually monitor HDD temperature? Or do you really want the CPU temp? Either way you'll probably need lm-sensors installed on your system first. Do that, and someone will walk you throught the rest of the way.
Could you also post a screen shot of your conky output so we can compare it to your code. It helps a lot in diagnosing issues.

Sorry, couldn't help to baffle about this
Every each one of your processor core have 3.2GHz speed... it not add.
But current processors have power management systems and if there is nothing to do, processor cores scales down to slowest mode.
If you want to have processor speed as a whole, use "${cpu cpu0}", if you want every cores, use every core individually, like "${cpu cpu1} ${cpu cpu2} ${cpu cpu3} ${cpu cpu4}".
Code:man conky |grep -A 3 "cpu (cpuN)"

I've managed to get things figured out with VinDSL's conky on my system, but I can't get it to run. When I type "conky" in the terminal, it brings up the default one. It's been years since I've played around with conky, and I seem to have forgotten a lot. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
