    So is the "current" one working for you with no issues then? If so, then I expect my latest version will work for the masses as well.

    Until something else breaks, this is setup. It requires a small amount of customization to work on any particular system, but it does everything I want it to for now.

    The "current" in the bundled package worked GREAT! So much so that I tweaked it, made it bigger for larger screens and added the calendar!

    Looks good ... but after a bit {blink} ... Oops! Gone!

    Now it really has my curiosity, I have to find out why ... again no error in terminal.
    EDIT: There was a too many fonts error... this is NOT right.

    Added "sticky" to it and I'm running it and it alone until I find out: WHY!

    BTW, you can drop a few "exec" commands:

    Code:
    ${execpi 600 date +"%Y"}
    to
    Code:
    ${time %Y}
    Now if you say, yes, but it's my laptop and this saves battery to only update every 10 minute then you could change the "month and year" calls to ${execi 86400 date +"%Y"}: once a day.

    Also I changed this part:
    Code:
    ${voffset -20}\
    ${color1}_\
    ${color2}__\
    ${color3}_\
    ${color4}__\
    ${color5}_\
    ${color6}__\
    ${color7}_\
    ${color8}____\
    ${color7}_\
    ${color6}__\
    ${color5}_\
    ${color4}__\
    ${color3}_\
    ${color2}__\
    ${color1}_${color}
    This is one sweet conky!
    Thanks for letting me play with it.

    SECOND EDIT: No matter what I do the conky c/w calendar keeps blinking out.

    SECOND EDIT: No matter what I do the conky c/w calendar keeps blinking out.
    Thanks for taking the time to look at it in so much detail, I will definately use your suggestions. Its not a laptop, so I will use the ${time ...} commands. The last version I posted (in the zip folder dated 5/27/13) was still running just fine when I checked this morning. Of course I'm using my modified Conky source code.

    Its helpful to know that crashes are occuring on your system even without the heydings font, as that rules out one possible source of the error. I'm assuming its related to the many ${ifmatch} and ${else} commands in the configuration file, since the problem did not arrise until the new bars were added. However, its not clear to me, from what I've seen in the source code, how that would result in the "too many fonts" error.

    >>>Update<<<

    Ooops, I just realized I dated my last zip folder as 3/27/13, I'll have to fix that later as well.

    EDIT: They died as well, I guess adding each CPU is a factor as well.
    Back to the drawing board
    EDIT: Good news, read this and then see next post for updated code.

    Why not just post something useful in post 22004?

    Don't thank me, this was a fun challenge and I had to do what I could to beat it.

    I have NO IDEA why it blinks out ... I "murdered" one combined conky version here by using "one" font: Alfios, didn't worry about spacing - looked almost right --- and there it was ... gone!

    BTW: four conkys. Without using your modified conky for the font error.

    Left and centre conkys are as solid as a rock. On the right are the two conkys touching, with different coloured backgrounds so you can see that they are pixel to pixel.

    I created the left and centre conkys because I can't make up my mind as to which calendar I like best.

    Calendar on the right (white|grey background):
    Notice that Lightning's legs appear to be in front of the line:
    Started with the eliminating process leaving spaces:
    Code:
    ${font Alfios:size=20}${voffset -20}\
    ${color1}_\
    ${color2}__\
    ${color3}_\
    ${color4}__\
    ${color5}_\
    ${color6}__\
    ${color7}_\
    ${color8}____\
    ${color7}_\
    ${color6}_ \
    ${color5} \
    ${color4}  \
    ${color3} \
    ${color2}__\
    ${color1}_${color}${font}
    Next the the colours went ....
    Code:
    ${font Alfios:size=20}${voffset -20}\
    ${color1}_\
    ${color2}__\
    ${color3}_\
    ${color4}__\
    ${color5}_\
    ${color6}__\
    ${color7}_\
    ${color8}____\
    ${color7}_\
    ${color6}_ \
     \
      \
     \
    ${color2}__\
    ${color1}_${color}${font}
    ... and I thought that's dumb, eliminate the blank lines:
    Code:
    ${font Alfios:size=20}${voffset -20}\
    ${color1}_\
    ${color2}__\
    ${color3}_\
    ${color4}__\
    ${color5}_\
    ${color6}__\
    ${color7}_\
    ${color8}____\
    ${color7}_\
    ${color6}_     \
    ${color2}__\
    ${color1}_${color}${font}
    Looks good ... still crashes if used combined.
    GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

    Sooooooo .. I created a test conky on a black background (size=150):
    Code:
    TEXT
    ${goto 20}${font Alfios:size=150}${color1}_\
    ${color2}__\
    ${color3}_\
    ${color4}__\
    ${color5}_\
    ${color6}__\
    ${color7}_\
    ${color8}____\
    ${color7}_\
    ${color6}__\
    ${color5}_\
    ${color4}__\
    ${color3}_\
    ${color2}__\
    ${color1}_${font}
    the resulting line was used to create: FF_Line.png ( 1824x8 ) and used thus:
    Code:
    ${image /media/5/Conky/PetroDawg/FF_Line.png -p 5,140 -s 295x1}
    ${image /media/5/Conky/PetroDawg/FF_Line.png -p 5,525 -s 295x1}
    If ya can't beat-em: Cheat!

    I also re-sized both fang.png and lightning.png so they are square. Much easier for the "-s" option in ${image}

    Code for the left conky:
    EDIT: See next post

    The code for the centre conky is the same except for alignment and the calendar section which looks like this:
    Code:
    ${image /media/5/Conky/PetroDawg/FF_Line.png -p 5,525 -s 295x1}
    ${image /media/5/Conky/PetroDawg/lightning.png -p 130,420 -s 155x155}
      ${font monofur:bold:size=15}${color0}${time %b %Y}${color}

    ${goto 20}${color}${execp LAR=`date +%-d`; ncal -bh | sed -e '1d' -e 's/\<'$LAR'\>/${color0}&${color}/' | sed ':a;N;$!ba;s/\n/\n${goto 20}/g'}${font}
    Notice that calling lightning.png after the line gives the same affect: her legs are in front of the line.

    Now a decision; left or centre? Hmmmm who's got a coin?
    I do like them though. Maybe it's the girls, don't tell my wife.

    Actually, there's lot of neat stuff in those conkys to make one think.

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    The changes that stop it from crashing - been running OK for a while now, I dropped all the ${else} lines because of this:
    Code:
    ${goto 70}${color9}|||||||||||||||||||||${goto 70}\
    which means the different colour coded "|" overwrites the ${color9}"|" - the two ${goto 70}'s look after that.

    as per CPU Avg:
    Code:
    ${color0}CPU Avg${voffset -2}${goto 70}${color9}|||||||||||||||||||||${goto 70}\
    ${if_match ${cpu cpu0} > 0}${color1}|\
    ${if_match ${cpu cpu0} > 5}${color1}|\
    ${if_match ${cpu cpu0} > 10}${color2}|\

    The changes that stop it from crashing - been running OK for a while now, I dropped all the ${else} lines because of this:
    Code:
    ${goto 70}${color9}|||||||||||||||||||||${goto 70}\

    which means the different colour coded "|" overwrites the ${color9}"|" - the two ${goto 70}'s look after that.
    Awesome! That is friggin' brilliant.

    Just remember to re-scale the download and upload speeds to your particular available bandwidth. Also, it appears you still have "hidden until needed" SWAP information in your configuration. If you use SWAP space, your Conky will shift and the images will become misaligned.

    Made many of the changes suggested by Sector11 as well as a few more additions of my own (hopefully it won't crash on a standard Conky install now). Added multiple shades of transparent background images to help make the Conky display well on dark or light wallpapers.

    Glad you like it - glad I could help.
    SWAP ... I thought I tool¿k that out, I have swap, but have never used it ... and the OLD OS use to scream for more!!!!

    I will take it out ...

    I have no idea of how you scaled the UL|DL speeds ..

    I have 3MB so I'm told more or less 350/360 KB/s but I usually get 120 to 180 "on a good day".

    How do I scale it?

    EDIT: Don't believe I wrote this after your previous post.

    Looks great!

    If you are supposed to get 3 Megabits per second then you would multiply that by 128 to get your max speed in kilobytes per second. 3*128 = 384. However if you typically get no more than 180, you may just leave the linear scale as it is.

    You could do a log scale for the 11 bar segments to your max speed as follows...

    first find your base value
    384^(1/(11-1))=1.813147

    then just start raising that to increasing powers to get your points
    1.813147^0=1 (or you could use 0 here if you want)
    1.813147^1=2
    1.813147^2=3
    1.813147^3=6
    1.813147^4=11
    1.813147^5=20
    1.813147^6=36
    1.813147^7=64
    1.813147^8=116
    1.813147^9=212
    1.813147^10=384

    then replace the download speed numbers with those in bold directly above.

    You can repeat the process using your max upload speed as well to change its scale.

    Hey,
    Iam using Lubuntu 13.04 and my conkyrc is as following. My problem is the conky is always having a black background.
