Here's a link to a screencast I made of my openbox/conky setup. I'll attach a couple screens too. Sorry about the terminal in the video. Code follows:

    System Monitor:
    Code:

I take no credit for the system monitor. I simply modified the config found here: http://rahulthewall.wordpress.com/20...t-conky-setup/.

The XMMS2 config is almost 100% mine. Everything in the TEXT field anyway. The rest is just mostly generic config values that can be found in most configs. If anyone bothers to watch the video here: http://youtu.be/SVBlejL9r_Y let me know if you think you can solve the problem I am having with the scrolling text. Sometimes, depending on the length of the song title, the HR above the title on the far right side expands and collapses with the text. I'm trying to prevent it but can't quite seem to get it down.

Many thanks to TeoBigusGeekus and Sector11 for providing me with a very useable Accuweather script and default layout for my weather config. You guys rock.

    Thanks.

Really, I'm not out to destroy Microsoft. That will just be a completely unintentional side effect.

It's alright. I had my talk with Teo already today. We're on good terms and all that, but He's left these forums and made things significantly harder for me going forward. He's gone to the Arch forums and had his account here cancelled. Considering what I've got invested here, I can't join him. There's only so many places I can be at once before my head explodes and my efforts to help people becomes pointless.

I'm currently debating with myself whether I'm continuing here or not.

Believe me, I'd upgrade the package if I could, but alas I cannot.
I'll just see what I can do with the script.

    Hello again,
Been awhile since my last post, when I was trying out Ubu11. I didn't particularly like Unity, so I dropped back to lucid. I may try Precise, which I believe is supposed to be released later today, but in the meantime here is my latest setup. First shot is wallpaper only. Thanks to everyone here for their information and configurations, which I acquired (stole), modified, broke, fixed, rearranged, broke, fixed, etc..., and learned in the process.
Without you guys and girls I would not have been able to do it. So, here is my current setup, which probably won't last long. As you can see, minimal is not my style

Clock Rings by londonali1010 (2009) Edited by jpope

This script draws percentage meters as rings, and also draws clock hands if you want! It is fully customisable; all options are described in the script. This script is based off a combination of my clock.lua script and my rings.lua script.

IMPORTANT: if you are using the 'cpu' function, it will cause a segmentation fault if it tries to draw a ring straight away. The if statement on line 145 uses a delay to make sure that this doesn't happen. It calculates the length of the delay by the number of updates since Conky started. Generally, a value of 5s is long enough, so if you update Conky every 1s, use update_num>5 in that if statement (the default). If you only update Conky every 2s, you should change it to update_num>3; conversely if you update Conky every 0.5s, you should use update_num>10. ALSO, if you change your Conky, is it best to use "killall conky; conky" to update it, otherwise the update_num will not be reset and you will get an error.

To call this script in Conky, use the following (assuming that you save this script to ~/scripts/rings.lua):
        lua_load ~/scripts/clock_rings.lua
        lua_draw_hook_pre clock_rings

Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

After much tinkering, I finally have something I'm proud of.

Using one of Teo's weather scripts, I've added a script to convert the Wind Speed to mph, the Visibility to miles and the Sunrise/set times to 24hr format.

I also have the central icon rotating every 3-4 seconds.

It is ready to install straight from the tarball, see README for details.

Many thanks to the sharp-eyed Stinkeye

    Richard that's just gorgeous.
Really, I'm not out to destroy Microsoft. That will just be a completely unintentional side effect.
