    Looks like Corney is running gnome, if that is the case RavUn you can simply right click on the panel, and select properties which will bring up options for size, and background.

    You can then click background, and choose solid color, and also adjusting the bar that says transparent

    I think it's GNOME doing it, not Compiz, so you should OK, if you're using GNOME. And yeah, as John.Michael.Kane said, it's in the properties.

    It is a file that configures the program conky. Conky is a light weight program that displays various system info in a text format.
