    Are you pulling weather from accuweather, or from wunderground?

    They parse an image for most of the graphs - pollen is html

    This could work for US users who exist at 93000 ft altitude!

    Try the root directory http://www.epa.gov/airnow/current/

    It's coming from wunderground. I'll have to take a look at accuweather, too as well as airnow.gov and see which ones are easier to parse.

It was made for a higher res screen than mine (1440x900) and I don't know how to resize it ... I'm going to be swapping around the date, weather and hopefully get the rhythmbox or amarok working with it as well.

    The main problems I'm noticing is the CPU temp doesn't refresh & the fan speed is obviously showing incorrect RPMs. When I type 'sensors' into the terminal, I get this:

    Code:
    realeyes@The-Blue-Box:~$ sensors
    it8720-isa-0228
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    in0:         +1.02 V  (min =  +0.00 V, max =  +4.08 V)

    Vbat:        +3.20 V
    fan1:       2428 RPM  (min =    0 RPM)
    fan2:          0 RPM  (min =    0 RPM)
    fan3:          0 RPM  (min =    0 RPM)
    fan5:          0 RPM  (min =    0 RPM)
    temp1:       +44.0C  (low  = +127.0C, high = +127.0C)  sensor = thermistor
    temp2:       +40.0C  (low  = +127.0C, high = +127.0C)  sensor = thermal diode

    cpu0_vid:   +0.475 V
    So, I know the sensors are working. Can someone check my ~/.conkyrc and tell me if all my code it right?

    I'd really appreciate it! I've learned so much from reading through posts on this thread and really enjoy the community here. Thanks a lot for wealth of knowledge being contributed here!
    For the CPU Temps, change:

    Code:
    exec sensors
    to

    Code:
    excepi 60 sensors
    Your CPU temp will refresh every 60 seconds - change 60 to whatever time you want.

    For your fan speed, it looks like the cut interval is off a bit. For

    Code:
    cut -c16-25
    change the 16-25 part to cut the right interval; also change the "exec" to "execpi 60" as well so it updates.

    And you probably want RPMs after your fan speed instead of C.

    The only thing unique here is the sensors area. You have to get hddtemp setup via synaptic and tell it Yes to run as a daemon.

    Also, sensors must running and setup using the lm-sensors setup tool. To get what platform mod you have you need to run

    Code:
    ls /sys/devices/platform
    and replace the results of your mod with what I have (it87.522)

    Also, some of the # out areas are of value, I just removed them because of space considerations.

    Edit - added two sh scripts hwinfo.sh and swinfo.sh needed for .conkyrc setup in message a message below (#13518) that contains the tar of supporting files.

    For this you have to use two things...

    This is setup using Accuweather and you can get the info on how to set it up here a great how-to by TeoBigusGeekus. The main emphasis is getting your rss feed setup, so once you have that you can replace what I have (/home/vastone) with your variables nad follow all the directions you need to from that thread.

    The other is using the

    gmail_parser.py

    Code:
    ## check-gmail.py -- A command line util to check GMail -*- Python -*-
    ## modified to display mailbox summary for conky

    import sys
    import urllib             # For BasicHTTPAuthentication
    import feedparser # For parsing the feed
    from textwrap import fill

    _URL = "https://mail.google.com/gmail/feed/atom"

    uname = sys.argv[1]
    password = sys.argv[2]
    maxlen = sys.argv[3]

    urllib.FancyURLopener.prompt_user_passwd = lambda self, host, realm: (uname, password)

    def auth():
        '''The method to do HTTPBasicAuthentication'''
        opener = urllib.FancyURLopener()
        f = opener.open(_URL)
        feed = f.read()
        return feed

    def readmail(feed, maxlen):
    	'''Parse the Atom feed and print a summary'''
    	atom = feedparser.parse(feed)
    	print '${color3} %s new email(s)\n' % (len(atom.entries))
    	for i in range(min(len(atom.entries), maxlen)):
    		print '          ${color2}"%s"' % fill(atom.entries[i].title,40)
    #uncomment the following line if you want to show the name of the sender
    #		print '          ${color2}%s' % atom.entries[i].author
    	if len(atom.entries) > maxlen:
    		print ' ${color}more...'

    if __name__ == "__main__":
        f = auth() # Do auth and then get the feed
        readmail(f, int(maxlen)) # Let the feed be chewed by feedparser
    I made a change here where you see "fill(atom.entries[i].title,40)" I changed it to 40 form 50 as that fits better on my layout.

    Obviously once you have this saved as gmail_parser.py in your /home directory you will need to change the line in weather.template
    Code:
    ${color F8DF58}${font FreeSans:size=14}Inbox${font}$alignr ${execpi 45 python ~/gmail_parser.py xxxxxx xxxxxx 3}
    xxxxxxxx = your gmail username xxxxxxxx = your gmail password.

    You also need to run

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install python-feedparser
    for gmail_parser to work correctly

    Conkyguayadeque setup... You will need to first go here and setup Kaivalagi's great python script.

    ${color2}${execi 300 conkyGoogleReader -S -u yourusername@gmail.com -p yourpassword| fold -s -w44}
    A note on this...This layout is how I like it, you may want something else, so play with the variables that you want like where you want it, maximum text are and even empty line spaces to get what you want.

    conkyGuayadeque.template

    Code:
    ${color1}Title: ${color2}[--datatype=TI --maxlength=32]
    ${color1}Artist: ${color2}[--datatype=AR --maxlength=32]
    ${color1}Album: ${color2}[--datatype=AL --maxlength=30]
    ${color1}Position: ${color2}[--datatype=PT] - [--datatype=LE] - [--datatype=PP]%
    ${execibar 1 conkyGuayadeque --datatype=PP}
    ${color1}Status: ${color2}[--datatype=ST] ${color1}  Volume: ${color2}[--datatype=VO]  ${color1}B/R: ${color2}[--datatype=BR]
    It is important to note to save this in your /home dir. Because when you get an update for the Kaivalagi PPA it will replace the one that is in your /usr/shar/conkyguayadeque/Example directory...

    Again, these variables are setup the way that I like them, experiment with them for your own likes...

    I start these this way with two separate sh scripts that I run from Startup Applications in your System Preferences Menu

    start-conky.sh

    Code:
    #!/bin/sh
    sleep 40
    /usr/bin/conky -c ~/.conkyrc -q -d &
    /usr/bin/conky -c ~/conky-timedate.conf -q -d &

    start-conky2.sh

    Code:
    #!/bin/bash

    sleep 50
    guayadeque &
    sleep 30
    /usr/bin/python /usr/share/conkyguayadeque/conkyGuayadeque-GetCoverart.py &

    conkgq=$(pgrep guayadeque)

    while [[ ! -z $conkgq ]];do
        sleep 30
        conkgq=$(pgrep guayadeque)
    done

    pkill -f /usr/share/conkyguayadeque/conkyGuayadeque-GetCoverart.py
    OK, that is my main setup...

    This is an Alternate setup that I use that somone else liked. It uses just the conkyguayadeque and a different weather setup that you can get from Kaivalagi (the guy is a Genius) here Once that is setup, you will need this for the effects that I have which is a weather template

    NOTE: I -do- use Compiz, would that be part of the problem?
    I use compiz also, so that is not the issue.

    When conky does not start, it usually means there is an error in your script.

    I would go to a terminal and start it and it should tell you what the error is

    Code:
    conky -c .conkyrc
    or whatever name you have it as

    Let me know what that tells you...

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    This is the images I needed to attach to the above directions.

    One thing about this...

    I am not encouraging anyone to duplicate my humble little desktop...

    Create your own!!!

    I went through a long process to get these and wanted to help anyone else that may be heading down this road.

    Edit - added two sh scripts hwinfo.sh and swinfo.sh needed for .conkyrc setup in the message above

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    regarding the recent posts about displaying new forum messages in conky using curl... I just thought i would share something else (not strictly conky)

    when i wrote my conky to display the recent activity on the crunchbang forums, not soon after, the immensely talented jpope turned that conky into a pipe menu...

    i can go directly to the recent topics page, or directly to the first page of a listed thread or (best of all) I can go directly to the new post!

    you can look at jpope's post and get the code here: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/post/51753/#p51753

    and while i havn't used the conky for quite a while, jpope's pipe menu must be one of the most frequently used features of my system!
