Meaning the background should change when you change it... heck I can see Icons through mine

You can get 1.8.0 in the reops for Jaunty or newer as conky_all
Very cool. I'll try that (though I expect it will work). Thanks!

    And happy birthday!

Edit: Oooooooooh! argb = alpha red green blue

I completely overlooked that when I first set up conky. Thanks again.

just make sure you have 1.8.0 and you SHOULD be golden.

( You may need to add this repo if the default repos don't have 1.8.0 https://launchpad.net/~norsetto/+archive/ppa )
    and Thanks!

Yeah, I'm only seeing 1.7.2, so I'll add it.

If you are still having issues try commenting out or removing any ${cpubar} or ${cpugraph} that may be in the .conkyrc

Those seem to cause issues with conky 1.8.0

Thanks, all is good. My conky is working great.

It's working fine now, though I had to restart. For reasons unknown to me, synaptic would not use that ppa even though I updated; restarting fixed it.

    My cpugraph works fine.

    Thanks again.

    Hi...

Here is my boring and basic conky script. Though it is basic i love it very much and it shows all the things i need.

Is there a way to get the download status from qbittorrent. I use this a lot i was looking at a way to put it in conky. In the web-ui i didn't find anything useful.

Let me know if there is any body who did this.

    Thanks

Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

Has anyone else had trouble getting conky's own_window_type to behave the way they want. If I set it to desktop, then clicking on the desktop causes it to disappear. If I set it to normal, it disappears when I ckick Show/Hide Desktop which I don't want. If I set it to override, it works generally the way I want except that if I set it to initialise on startup it stays on top of all other windows until it's killed and re-initialised. I have managed to "solve" this by opening it in .bashrc, and starting Guake on startup but of course now the first terminal windown I open is always taken up by conky. Not the end of the world but I'd prefer a cleaner solution.

How do you all get conky to behave the way you want without any of the problems mentioned above?

don't know if it'll help, but here's my settings

    Code:
    background yes
    own_window yes
    own_window_type override
    own_window_transparent yes
    own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager
    # own_window_class conky
