    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    The README :
    This widget is based on Impulse screenlet for Gnome by Ian Halpern
    http://impulse.ian-halpern.com/ or http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/?content=99383

    Requirements
    libfftw3-3 libpulse0

    You also need impulse.so and libimpulse.so from impulse project (they are in the audio_spectrum.tar.gz archive).
    Save them in the Lua script folder.
    You also need impulse.py in the same folder.

    The impulse library creates a pulse audio connection context that reads the output stream from pulseaudio
    in a thread natively which can then be read from python.
    You can specify impulse to either output the raw stream or output the fft of the raw stream. It's done in the conkyrc.

    You need conky 1.7.2 or higher and at least a line after TEXT in the conkyrc (blank line or not).

    To run it, in the conkyrc, you have set the absolute path to the Lua script :
    lua_load $HOME/scripts/audio_spectrum1.2/audio_spectrum.lua

    and you MUST call the conky like this (with full path):
    conky -c /path/pf/the/conkyrc/conkyrc
    I remove a paragraph, what do you think about this one ?

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    Hello !

    When I listen a radio on my computer, I like to know the tracks that are playing, so I wrote a bash script to get the informations (artist, title...) from the website of the radio and display theses informations in a conky/lua widget.
    So if you write this kind of script for yours radios you can use this little widget : radio-box.

    So, the widget needs a text file in input :
    The file format is (all lines are optional and order doesn't matter):
    Code:
    radio:FIP
    artist:Johnny Cash
    title:First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
    album:The Man Comes Around
    label:American Recordings
    year:2002
    cover:/tmp/radio-cover2
    And the output could be that :

    the script can be run with a lot of parameters to change the display (shape, font, colors, text to display), see the README or examples on my blog.

    Now I have a question, I try to run/stop at the same time the player (vlc with http interface) and the conky. I wrote this script and it works, but is there a better way to run and stop 2 programs at the same time (I think kill is not nice :
    Code:
    flag="/tmp/flag-fip"
    if [ -f $flag ]; then
        for p in  `tail $flag`
        do
            kill $p
        done
        rm $flag
    else
        vlc --intf=http http://www.tv-radio.com/station/fip_mp3/fip_mp3-128k.m3u &
        echo $! > $flag
        conky -c ~/.config/openbox/bureau/conkyrc-fip  &
        echo $! >> $flag
    fi
    Thanks !

    @wlourf
    Hi, and thanks for your conky scripts. I bumped into your blog searching a way to parse the openbox shrtcut into a conky window
    When I run ob_shortcut.py, I get the following error:
    Code:
    Traceback (most recent call last):
       File "shortcuts.py", line 173, in <module>
         main_keyboard()
       File "shortcuts.py", line 44, in main_keyboard
         if action_et.get("name")=="Execute":
     AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get'
    Maybe can you shed some light?

    Hi, I didn't manage to reproduce this problem. Please send me (in a PM) your rc.xml and the command line you use to get this error, and the variables you set in the python file.

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    My conky blinks on and off every 30 seconds or so.

    I have added " load dbe " to xorg.conf
    I have added " maximum_width xxx " to above TEXT in my .conkyrc
    I have used in .conkyrc -
    " double_buffer yes "
    and
    " minimum_size 300 700 "

    What else can I do to stop it blinking ? It's driving me even crazier.

    Here is my .conkryc -

    No it doesn't 1 thing is left out (I guess I'd better poke Bruce about that).

    Code:
    minimum_size X Y
    Where X and Y are the number of horizontal and vertical pixels, also prevents "blinking". At least, if you make the conky window wide or high enough so that it won't redraw the window to fit the line(s) that make it grow in size.

    Talking about Bruce, where is he? Haven't seen him in ages.
