Well, I guess it has no solution.

    Thanks for the help though!
    I solved it:

For using conky + compiz background do:

    Code:
    # set to yes if you want Conky to be forked in the background
    background no

#own window to run simultanious 2 or more conkys
    own_window yes
    own_window_type normal
    own_window_transparent yes
    own_window_hints undecorate,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager,below

to be honest, no, but what's the problem? Do something like

    ${execi 60 tail -n 5 /path/to/file.log}

60 being amount of seconds to repeat the command and 5 being number of last lines to show.

hi ubunteros, i'll post this on CH! tomorrow, but, here is the little conky widget bloc code for vertical_bars , hope it could be useful
V0.2 - add rgba format and so, alpha option for bars & borders.
    Code:

"arg" is the argument to the stat type, e.g. if in Conky you would write ${cpu cpu0}, 'cpu0' would be the argument. If you would not use an argument in the Conky variable, use ''.

that's not true, you didn't "steal" it, you invoked the CCCC rule that she authored.

    Hi thanks for the tip.

My problem is that I do not want to show couple lines of text. I want to show whole page of texts on my desktop. I do not plan to use any other utility command in Conky at all, just plain text but full desktop size.

    All the commands I tried

"$head", it does not update properly. Conky never udpates the display

"$cat", it does update fine however my text is dipslayed at the bottom of the screen
    Code:
    -----------------|
    | |
    | |
    | |
    | Text is |
    | here |
    -----------------|
"$tail", it seems to work better. I managed to move the text little higher with tail. Something like this
    Code:
    -----------------|
    | |
    | Text is |
    | here |
    | Text is |
    | here |
    -----------------|
But I want to be able to use the whole desktop for showing text if I can

thx, i think i'm going to LOVE te CCCC.
anyway, there is still an issue with this widget, the 100% value overlap the border, so you have to put 105 at 'max' options to make it work fine. when it's fixed, i'll post it at CH!

    any help appreciate

    Use tail.

    in this example:
    Code:
    ${execi 60 tail -n 5 /path/to/file.log}
the -n refers to the number of lines returned... try different values to see what works best, but remember conky will fill the screen from the top down so don't start with too high of a value or the bottom will be cut off.

Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

so bruce let me start off by thanking you. i found a post you did on conky hardcore about a flat conky. im making it my own by adding more pieces and different info.

my question is whether or not someone knows about any variables that elaborate on the state of my battery and use of external power?
i feel that this me the missing like that would set my conky over the top

Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    Hey,

I just started with conky-colors in Karmic.
After following the instructions and commands I can't find the .conkyrc file
though after the last command I got the right message ("Congrats your conkyrc ...").
It's definitely not in my home folder.

    Latest version of conky-colors & conky 1.7.2.

    Any help would be appreciated.
