    this is my neet little conky that works with conkyRhythmbox. As is it works very well, However I would like to come up with a method to show nothing unless rhythmbox is running. At present this script will load rhythmbox automatically, something I don't really want it to do. Can anyone help trouble shoot this problem? I cant figure it out.

    Download it from your distributions repository and install it if you don't have it already.

    Add this image to your home folder and rename it ".notplaying" without using any extension at all.

    here is the RC file. replace the ?????'s in the folder paths to match your home folder path

    Code:
    ##	System interaction
    double_buffer yes
    text_buffer_size 512

    ##	Font setup
    use_xft yes
    xftfont Bitstream AvantGardeLTMedium:size=10
    default_color 000000
    uppercase no
    draw_borders no
    draw_shades no

    ##	Window setup
    alignment bottom_left
    maximum_width 300

    own_window yes
    own_window_transparent yes
    own_window_type override # Try also 'normal' or 'override'
    gap_x 5
    gap_y 10

    TEXT
    ${execi 15 /home/?????/bin/getcover}
    ${if_match "${exec rhythmbox-client --print-playing-format %tt}" == "Not playing"}
    ${voffset -20}${image /home/chris/.notplaying -p 0,2 -s 100x100 -f 30}
    ${offset 105}No Track Info

    $else
    ${voffset -20}${image /home/?????/.album -p 0,2 -s 100x100 -f 30}
    ${offset 105}$color${execi 30 rhythmbox-client --print-playing-format %tt}
    ${offset 105}$color${execi 30 rhythmbox-client --print-playing-format %ta}
    ${offset 105}$color${execi 30 rhythmbox-client --print-playing-format %at}
    $endif
    This is a script that will get the album art from the web rather than from rhythmbox. I like this method of fetching the covers better. ***Creat a folder "~/bin" save the script there and name it getcover. Dont forget to make it executable*** Also not that on the last line there is a path to your home folder, edit it to match your home path.

    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    artist=`rhythmbox-client --print-playing-format %ta`
    album=`rhythmbox-client --print-playing-format %at`
    str="`echo $artist $album | sed -e s/\\ /+/g`"
    wget `wget "http://www.albumart.org/index.php?srchkey=$str&itempage=1&newsearch=1&searchindex=Music" -q -O - |
    grep "http://www.albumart.org/images/zoom-icon.jpg" -m 1 |
    sed -e 's/" border="0" class="image_border.*//' |
    sed -e 's/.*img src="//'` -q -O /home/?????/.album

    You can probably do it with a if command in your .conkyrc
    Code:
    ${if_running rhythmbox} 'show album art' ${endif}
    There are also some other if commands that might do the trick (see: http://conky.sourceforge.net/variables.html)
    Code:
    if_mpd_playing
    if_xmms2_connected
    ... replace the ?????'s in the folder paths to match your home folder path ...
    Use ~ for your home dir to make it universal. For example:
    Code:
    ~/bin/getcover

    You can also use
    Code:
    $HOME
    for the same effect.

    As long as you pick one and use it the same way everywhere for consistency.

    Code:
    ${if_running rhythmbox} 'show album art' ${endif}
    I've tried this, It seems as if it does the trick when I put the entire text section within this condition. But when rhythmbox is open manualy, the 'If' is either not tested again, or for whatever reason is never reported as true. I don't know which is the case. It seems that the culprit is the rhythmbox-client. any time it is executed it opens rhythmbox.

    I've even tried using the option "rhythmbox-client --no-start ..." but that just causes an error when used along with "--print-playing-client..."

    Perhaps it would be best if I create a bash script to start rhythmbox that also launches the conky script in tandem and continually tests to see if a rhythmbox process ends. if the scripts no longer detects the presence of rhythmbox it can kill that conky script.

    Hi Bruce, yes I thought so, also "ConkyForecast" would rather know where the Weather-Symbols come from. So the pictures are, and where can I get it? Thanks Danke! P.S.: Or is there a new version from "ConkyForecast" with Weather-Pictures?

    The latest version of ConkyForecast has the "fonts" for weather conditions and the "images" for weather conditions included.

    Code:
    0 bruloo@bruloo: ~
    Sun Nov 15, 12:31 $ conkyForecast -V
    conkyForecast v.2.09
    0 bruloo@bruloo: ~
    Sun Nov 15, 12:31 $
    Once installed you can use the font or images.

    You will find the images in:
    Code:
    /usr/share/conkyforecast/images/bearingicons/
    /usr/share/conkyforecast/images/moonicons/
    /usr/share/conkyforecast/images/weathericons/
    Have a nice day.
