Is this OK?

A couple of times I've given out websites of hardware vendors to help folks find hardware. I notice that others don't do this. Am I breaking some unwritten (or written!) rule?

I don't know enough about Ubuntu or Linux to really help anyone - but I've built so many computers I know where to find good stuff cheap.

Not sure if you're breaking a rule (I can't really see how you would be, provided you aren't message spamming the boards) but as long as you're helping people out, I think what you're doing is just fine. Can you direct me to one of your posts on the forums so I can take a look?

Like the previous two posters said, if you are giving useful links in the context of helping someone and if it isn't spam then you are just fine. I appreciate you asking.
