    Arrow GUI logout when shift to text mode

    hi you experts out there..
    i m newbie in Linux..
    I am using red hat 8 .
    and it boots in runlevel 5.When i log in GUI in root ,it works fine but if i try to shift to text mode by pressing ctrl + alt + F1, the GUI mode logouts.so i cant work simultanously in GUI and text mode. PLease find me solution. I will be very thankful to you all great experts here...

    from what you tell me, everything is working normally. i'm really not that sure what exactly you're trying to do. either you want to work in GUI mode (ie run level 5) or you want to work in text mode (eg run level 1, 2, or 3). are you saying that you want to use the GUI and use the terminal. if thats the case, gnome-terminal is in your menu. if i've misunderstood, can you please clarify?

    Try running a program called terminal or konsole in the GUI?
    sometimes people put up walls, not to protect themselves but to see who cares enough to break them down.
