well almost everything is working here. Have a Dell Inspiron 6000 with an Intel Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller. Everything seems to be working fine (no errors) but my windows are stuck. I had this problem before with aiglx in dapper and fixed it before but that was ages ago. Anyone have any sugestions that might help refresh my memory? any help is greatly appriciated ^_^
first:
Code:sudo apt-get install alienyou may want to try 915resolution as well.Code:wget -c http://downloadmirror.intel.com/df-support/8211/eng/dri-I915-v1.1-20041217.i386.rpm sudo alien dri-I915-v1.1-20041217.i386.rpm sudo dpkg -i dri-i915_v1.1-20041218_i386.deb
if that doesnt work..try this:
reboot
"hit escape to load grub menu"
select the first option that includes the word (recovery mode) at the end of the line.this will boot you into a text prompt.
try this:
just in case..
Code:sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia-glxCode:sudo apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xorg-driver-i810boot normally into your WM. open a terminal.Code:sudo reboot
type:
if that doesnt work:Code:glxgears
if you get this error mssg:Code:glxinfo
Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual
try this:
reboot the same as described above.[recovery]
Code:sudo apt-get remove --purge xserver-xorg-driver-i810reboot.Code:sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-driver-i810

Everything I've learned, i learned from killing smart people and eating their brains
Thanks, foo!
I'm not sure which part of that worked, but I suspect it was either
sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia-glx
or
sudo apt-get remove --purge xserver-xorg-video-i810
sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-i810
For others who were having this problem, note that I purge/installed xorg-video-i810, not xorg-driver-i810. This is what worked for me!

I've noticed another problem...: When i playback video and the window of the player becomes trasparent i instead of video i see only a blue window (i hear the sound of the film). I noticed that this happens when i chage the opacity of the players window to something below 100%,
My question: Is there a way to fix that or to disable the trasparencies in inactive windows?
Thanks in advance
Yeah, I experience this transparency thingy as well. I guess disabling trail focus plugin would solve it, but that's not really a solution...

i have a Ati 9200 , using the open source drivers and it worked
( the ati open source drivers in edgy finally have direct rendering)
EDIT: IT WORKS! I'm not sure exactly why, but it started working I messed around in my xorg.conf.
I am also using the i810 driver, but none of the solutions in the thread has worked (I followed the Dapper instructions in the link on a clean 6.06 install). Any help would be greatly appreciated
