HOWTO: Upgrade Xubuntu to Xfce 4.4rc1

I think i've sucessfully installed thunar and xfce but now everytime i start the computer i get an error that says: Unable to contact the xfce trash service.
Make sure you have a file manager installed that supports the xfce trash service such as thunar.

Help me please

Won't work for me in Edgy. I have posted the relevant output below. The log file is too big and it freezes Firefox when I try to post all of it.

Damn, this thing seems to happen to quite a few ppl. And I'm afraid that I don't know the solution yet...

Maybe it doesn't work in edgy then. I haven't been able to test it since I don't have it.

this happens here too.

i think it's becuase of thunar 0.3 and 0.4 (one hasn't the trash)

i'll now try to install 0.4.1 and see if it fix


edit: i fixed thunar (reinstalling 0.4.0 and uninstalling 0.3 from synaptic) but i still got the error

I think dapper comes with xfce4 beta1 (version 4.3.90.2) and not 2...So its pretty "old"...

i had beta2 and didn't remember to have upgraded it, anyway, surely rc it's better than beta (any) 8)

When I go to Change Session on the login screen, I have two options for xfce now: one that just says "xfce" and one that says "xfce 4.4". If I choose the former, I get the trash service error. If I choose the latter, everything's great.

See if you have an entry for "xfce 4.4" and see if that works for you.
