    problem with windows and firefox

I am having a problem with windows, not the windows system or program but real windows. I am posting this here because I think I screwed up when doing stuff in settings. Here is the thing. Say I am on the internet, with firefox and just roaming around. If I do that for very long, and then press the world icon of firefox it will then say something like:"quit 23 windows" (the 23 could be 2 or I have seen it as high as 40) It will do the same thing for the system files icon, etc. This never used to happen, when I left someplace it was gone but no longer. I seem to remember once when I was messing with settings something about keeping something but I have looked and searched and failed to find with I think I saw. Does anybody have any idea what I am even talking about? If you do is there salvation? I can live with this but I would rather not. My suspicion is that when if really fill stuff up with windows it slows down the machine, not sure about that either. Just thought I would ask the question.

Oh, with the big change coming I am not even sure this is where it should be. Lots going on and I am, obviously, not all that bright when it comes to changing stuff I have dealt with for years and then it changes.

    Thank you....................

Luckily I am on night shift so I can try. But I do not often use Firefox as primary browser.

Try to understand Firefox Profile Manager where you can have multiple profiles.

Open Firefox using command firefox -P
    That is capital P.

You will probably just see one profile - default.

If tabs are screwed up you can hit Restart Firefox. But importantly try creating a fresh profile then you can switch between profiles if you are screwed. Or you might create a profile for different tasks rather than having multiple tabs in one mega session.
